Can cancer spread during treatment? Lower back pain.

Options

Hi friends. I began this lower/mid back pain on left side shortly after my double mastectomy. It' been 2 months and it's just constant. It' a dull ache that could be bone, muscle, kidney...i have no idea. I mentioned it to my onc (3 weeks ago) and she said she wasn't concerned cuz I'm still in treatment. I had chemo before surgery, then surgery, and now I'm in radiation and still on Herceptin for her2. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this...did it turn out to be mets or just plain old back pain. Is it common for cancer to spread while still in treatment? My scans before chemo showed no mets. Thanks! Much luv.

If your MO is not addressing it, go to PCP or anyone else who will listen and try to determine the cause of the pain

Thank you. I made an appointment with my family doctor for tomorrow. I'll stand strong and push for tests. I'm tired of losing sleep over something that could be nothing! Thanks for your support.

update...my family doctor ordered an x ray and they saw nothing. My onc then said that she will send me for a bone scan and another xray. She said that since other ailments were improving except the back pain, we should look into it. I should get results this week. I'm trying not to worry but you know how this Is! My bone scan at diagnosis was clear and it was only 10 months ago. I've only just finished treatment. I'm still on Herceptin and tamoxifen though. I'm sick of worrying.

Absolutely keep getting things ruled out. Know that Tamoxifen causes joint/connective tissue pain in some people.
