Hi everyone, I've had a hard, painless lump for I think years on the upper-right side of my chest (a little underneath my armpit) but recently I've noticed it's causing a dimple in the skin. I used to have to lift my arms straight up to feel for it but now I can have them rest at my side and I can still feel it even through my shirt. It's also now causing an indentation. I have gained weight the past 3 years if that's relevant. (~190 > ~230 lbs, 5'10)

I'm a little worried because all the pictures and descriptions of lipomas and cysts depict them as lumps that protrude outwards, but mine seems to be pulling the skin and fat inwards. Can lipomas and cysts do this sort of thing? I am going to set up an appointment with my doctor but she's on vacation until the next month so I just need some peace of mind until then.

Welcome to the forum ConfusedGuy. When men present with breast cancer symptoms, it's primarily a lump behind the nipple since that's where our small amount of breast tissue resides. If the cancer was advanced it could make it to a lymph node under the arm as well. Since your lump apears to only be under your arm, I'd say it's not breast cancer. So, do see your doctor, but don't lose too much sleep meanwhile. And do keep us posted.
