Hi all, I am new to this forum, but have been reading it for about a week. My story begins about 3 months ago when I was in the middle of a family crisis. I was also having delayed pressure hives quite severely. One Monday I was rocking my 3 yr. old grandson and had his head resting on my right breast for quite awhile. The next day that same spot had a rash about the size of a dollar bill folded in half. I thought it was a pressure hive. It lasted a few days. faded away with a small bruise like spot and was gone. I thought nothing of it, not knowing anything about IBC. Fast forward to last week, again I was watching my grandson and by the time he went home I felt like I had been through the mill. I'm 68 years old and he is tough on my body. I was lifting and carrying him against me and rocking him...etc. The next day I was changing my shirt when I noticed both of my breast were bright pink. The right more than the left. I immediately called to see the doc and went in the next day. Since then, the red has subsided from the left breast entirely and has shrank into a light almost not noticeable spot the size of a small butterfly. It also has a microscopic bruise as it fades. Almost the same place as the first spot that I though was a hive. My doc has scheduled a mammogram tomorrow as I am due, but he also has scheduled an ultra sound right after at the hospital so there will be a radiologist on hand to interpret. I would also like to see a dermatologist this week if possible for a couple of punch biopsies. This is a horrifying experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.....sound familiar???

Hi, tunk. We aren't doctors here (well, most of us aren't) and can't offer a diagnosis. However, a skin issue that began three months ago, fades away, reappears, and shrinks again, just doesn't fit the clinical picture of IBC.

One of the hallmarks of IBC is that it develops and spreads fast, sometimes within days or hours. With no treatment, it almost certainly would have steadily and clearly worsened within three months' time. But seeing your doctor was the right thing to do, and getting your regular mammogram with an ultrasound to follow sounds like a great idea too.

I sure hope you're right. I did see a couple of people on here had a rash come and go, but I don't know the time frame. You guys are all my heroes. IBC is an insidious monster! Of course now, I feel every single ache, pain and lymph node....sigh
