AeroForm TE and Problems with Radiation

Hi all,

When I had my mastectomy last October I opted for a relatively new tissue expander from AeroForm, using a carbon dioxide cartridge vs. saline. I completed my chemo treatments and was about to start radiation. The radiation oncologist said her physicists were having trouble getting accurate measurements with the air filled expander. She recommended removing the TE and the plastic surgeon has recommended doing the final reconstruction when removing the TE.

Has anyone experienced this specific problem with AeroForm? Has anyone here had final reconstruction prior to radiation? If so, how was the outcome?

I had my implant placed before radiation, as my ps preferred not to operate on radiated skin. I’m over halfway through radiation, and no issues with the implant so far

Kathy, hope someone responds, aeroform is new. I was think of doing it if I have a recurrence in other breast. I know I couldn't stand the saline files all at once. Good luck.

i had implant before rads I finished rads in April .. It sits higher than the nonrads side. I did have some fat necrosis from fat grafting but not bad.
