Lump 3months after Rads

Hi All,

I had a very small DCIS tumor that was removed via lumpectomy in December 2017. I completed 35 treatments of radiation in March 2018 and had my followup with Radiation Doctor in April 2018 where he conducted an exam and everything looked and felt good. I had a Mammogram, Ultrasound and MRI before my surgery in December 2017.

In early June 2018 I felt a small lump under my treated breast. It is right where my breast folds, not on the breast, but right at the fold. I noticed because I continue to use the calendula cream every other day and suddenly I felt it. I have been very paranoid about BC and check every day.

I scheduled a followup with my oncologist who is also my surgeon. I met with her two weeks ago and she did a breast exam felt nothing- so she asked me to show her where the lump was. It seems like the lump is not in a usual area where they feel for when they do an exam (?). Maybe it's just a bit lower from the breast fold. She looked at it very closely and said it was a Sebaceous Gland Cyst. She said she saw the "pore". She said she recommends I leave it alone for 3 months (since my skin is still healing from Radiation) and if it is still there she can take it out and she would send it to pathology for my peace of mind. I asked her if that was my only option and she said that was her recommendation. I specifically asked her if it was breast cancer and she said it was highly unlikely because that means it would have been missed in all my exams/imaging. I even asked her if it was any other kind of cancer, she said it was highly unlikely. She said especially considering the fact I found it suddenly.

I told her to take it out now because I cannot live peacefully knowing there is a lump anywhere in my body let alone near by breast!!!

So I am scheduled for removal OR excisional biopsy this Thursday. I haven't slept and I am making myself ill with worry. Literally ill (headaches, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, you name it). I need to not have access to google. I also read online it could be fat necrosis?

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to have a reocurrence ALREADY?

2. Is it possible that those exams/imaging (MRI, ultra sound, mammo) could have missed this? Do those imaging tests reach that far down?

3. Is it possible to get tumors in the breast fold or near it?

I am going crazy, any input is highly appreciated.

Thank you ALL

My only advice is to see your surgeon. Nobody here can diagnose this!

same exact thing happened to me. I felt a bump under my breast. Left a message for surgeon and was given immediate appointment. I was nervous because it was Right under the boob hard bump. Nurse looked at it said same thing Sebaceous cyst but my nurse did squeeze the crap out of it and it wasgone. Maybe we get oily there from all the aquafor but as long as you got it looked at take comfort that this lump isn’t bad.

I tried popping it a few times before I went to the doctor. When she looked at it she told me not to try to pop it because it could rupture from the inside and cause an infection. I can't see the "pore" or "head" like the doctor said she could. Hoping it is something B9.
