Hi I will be due for my lumpectomy operation very soon .My initial biopsy shows IDC Grade 2 .Ultrasound reports 2.5 cm tumour size, Here in Australia they decide the line of treatment after final pathology report after lumpectomy . But my Breast Surgeon was very confident that I will have to take chemotherapy considering the size of the tumour .I know that final status will be decided by oncotype score and hormone receptor status but still I was wondering if tumour size will be main consideration . Anyone here whose tumour was my size and still skipped Chemo .?

my treatment is being decided after final pathology.... I think a lot has to do with sentinel node biopsy. Are you having that done with your biopsy/lumpectomy?

Sending you hugs and good vibes -- I'm waiting for my surgery June 29 and I think it's difficult to wait and wonder and not know....

My tumor was 2.5 cm as well. Oncotype 12, oncologist didn’t even consider size. No chemo based on Oncotype only. Hope that was good decision. Keep us posted.

My tumor went from stage 1 before surgery to stage 2 after. It was the size ofyour tumor. Lymph node clear. You will not know if you need chemo or not until after Oncotype DX. My score was 17 and did not need chemo.

Dhanno, you don't mention your age; that often is one of the driving factors for MOs recommending chemo.

I was diagnosed last year at 39 years old. Tumor 2.5, clear nodes and oncotype 12. No chemo. The oncotype is for tumor size up to 5 cm I believe

I think you should wait until after the surgery and get the pathology report to decide but perhaps your doctor is considering your age. I am 54 so though my cancer is similar to your's, if not more aggressive, I did not need chemo. I am doing Radiation and hormonal therapy.

Thanks everyone for easing my mind .I was really tense and had not slept the entire night Seeing your replies in the morning calmed me .I was very well composed till friday .But suddenly yesterday I lost my mind .Suddenly the reality of cancer sinked in That courage I had was gone and I was weeping like a child .Tomorrow is the lumpectomy. I will update you very soon .
