I'm 18 and have been diagnosed (no biopsy, just ultrasound) with a fibroademia that is 4.7 x 4.9 cm. Should I have it removed or wait and see (have it checked every 6 months)? Doctor said there is 999 in 1000 chance that it is benign given my age and stats, but I can't find any statistics online that deal specifically with young cancer patients so not sure where those stats are sourced. And afraid if it gets larger, it may be disfiguring. Any advise? Thanks

If removed, should I go to a plastic surgeon or a general surgeon (primary doctor referred me to a general surgeon).

The reason you can't find stats on 18 yr olds with breast cancer is that it is so extremely rare. Like, less than 0.1% risk. Virtually ZERO. So, its probably safe to say this isn't breast cancer.

Breasts can have all kinds of lumps, dimples, and rashes, especially young breasts. I'd suggest you see a breast specialist, someone who deals in breasts every day of the week. They can start you on some surveillance and determine whether surgery is appropriate for you.
