Hello all,

I was super happy to get my Oncotype score of 7 and learn that my only treatment is Tamoxifen for 5 years. I start taking it tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on taking it mornings or evenings? I hope to avoid the larger side effects but only time will tell on that front. Does anyone take any supplements to offset or help with the Tamoxifen?

I take it in the morning right before breakfast and that works well for me. I do that because it says to take with a full glass of water and if I do that before bed then I have to wake up to pee!! I've never noticed any immediate side effects that seem to come from taking it in the morning. I get hot flashes for about a week and a half in the middle of my cycle (that's all day and night when it happens), and I also have problems with dry mouth and, as a result, fragile gums. The hot flashes didn't start until a few months in, and the gum problems took about 6 months to manifest. It's not a deal breaker, it's all been manageable for me!

    :-)

Thanks very much for the input. Fingers crossed on the side effects being limited in scope.

    Hi,

I take it at night as the hot flashes during the day were a problem when I took it in the AM. Hot flashes at night stink bc I wake up and throw the covers off, but it's better for me than in the middle of teaching eighth graders... any little thing can make them looney, and my breaking into a sweat while leaning over their desks was not fun! Now that it's summer I will switch to daytime dosing so I can sleep better. Good luck to you!
