Coughing and worried

Options

I have been NED for 11 years after IDC stage 1, grade 3 with no nodes. 36 radiation treatments and 5 years of Arimidex was my treatment plan. I have had a persistent cough for months now. I sent an email to my doctor, but wonder what my chances are of lung mets at this late point. I have no other symptoms.

I know there's some nasty stuff going around--both GI and respiratory. People are posting that it is lasting weeks. It could be allergies or Gerd too.

As to chances--sadly there is no formula and no amount of time that gives us assurance.

Hope your doc can determine the cause and it clears quickly.

My teenage daughter (who is fully vaccinated) contracted Pertussis in April. It's a horrible cough that lasts and lasts. I got it from her and have been coughing since the end of April despite antibiotics.

There are so many things that can cause a cough. I know how the mind wants to go there, but please see your primary to start. I hope it's something easy!

Persistent cough can have so many causes, including cancer, if course. The fact that yours has been going on for months means it needs investigation. Start with your PCP. He/she will be able to test and treat you for the most common conditions and will be able to refer you to a pulmonologist, if necessary.
