Swollen Auxiliary Nodes- Reoccurance?

Options

My mom was diagnosed almost a year ago with Triple negative breast cancer. It was IDC and originally there was no node involvment. Dhe was considered Stage II due to the size of her tumors. She had multicentric tumors and she received neoadjuvant chemo and a bilateral mastectomy a couple months ago. Her chemo consisted of A+CT (carboplatin added when her tumors were unaffected by A).

She saw her PCP for a regular check up and mentioned some pain she was having under her arm. Her PCP examined the area (non cancer side) and thought maybe her underwire bra was causing discomfort and swelling. She asked her to discontinue wearing an underwire bra and to follow up with her oncologist. Fast forward 3 weeks and she was examined by a NP in her onc office who felt the area (very tender and definitly had swollen areas). She said she did the right thing by coming in and she wanted an u/s and maybe a biopsy. Obviously my mom is very concerned and scared.

My question is: is this how reoccurance presented in the axillary nodes for anyone else?

Any words of wisdom for me or my mom?

(I should mention she had a lump a couple of months ago not painful and was fat necrosis. She wasnt nearly as worried about that spot as this one. Intuition?)

Taffy2992 we wish we had words of wisdom, but only the doctors will be able to say, as each person is different. It could be any number of things causing the discomfort. We truly, truly hope that all is benign, and your mom stays healthy.

Sending you and your mom hugs
