Improving gut health

I am 42 years old and recently diagnosed. I am pretty good about exercise, but need to increase based on recommendations. My diet however needs an overhaul. My gut was wrecked after taking 4 weeks of antibiotics after surgery. I had a drain for 4 weeks. I have been using Kombucha and probiotics. I have made some dietary changes; low refined sugar and more plant based. I am also thinking of starting a turkey tail mushroom supplement. What is other folks experience with improving digestive function? Is anyone else using turkey tail, what is your experience good and bad?

I just added Turkey Tail to my supplements on the recommendation from my oncologist with the hopes that it will increase the health of my immune system. I have just finished one 120 capsule bottle so have been doing it for 60 days. My CBC counts are all normal for the first time in years. I can't say for sure it is resulting from the Turkey Tail addition, but certainly isn't hurting :)

Taking all refined sugar, wheat, grain and processed foods completely out of my diet has put my ulcerative colitis and acid reflux into complete remission for 3.5 years. Probiotics and fermented foods are a great addition.
