The waiting...
Hello all! I was just diagnosed yesterday with bc. 1.9cm mass and tumor was given a grade 1 at this point. I found the lump myself and went in for mammogram and ultrasound then a biopsy. Dr. said she didn't think it was cancer. I don't know how to explain it, but I had a gut feeling it was. Anyway, I'm freaking out. The waiting is driving me nuts

Everyone here will agree the waiting is the worst. Once you have a plan in place for surgery and treatment the process moves a lot quicker.
I had IDC Grade 1. Grade 1 is the most like normal cells.
There is zero chance you can totally focus on anything else until you get to the next step but try anyway to keep busy.
Best of luck. Keep us posted.

Thank you! I’m trying to go on as normal at this point. No reason to alarm anyone (including myself!) until I have more information. It is terrible where the mind will wander given too much idle time though. Mostly worried for my children who are 12 and 15

flag6818,
Just hang in there. It seems like an eternity, but you can do some research for doctors/surgeons and keep yourself busy. You can get second opinion even if you have a doctor to make sure you will be making the right decision in the future. I am so sorry for the Dx but I know you will be just fine. Don't worry about your children, nothing is going to happen to you. You caught it early, there are many options for treatments.

Waiting sucks. This is a great place for support. I'm not a year out yet, but it still seems like yesterday when I was told. It is true though once you have all the information and know what you are dealing with, you begin to take some control back. Do you have an appt with a surgeon, or did they recommend one for you?

I have an appointment on Wednesday with the surgeon. Im waiting on information for er/pr and her2 also. I know the pathologist in the lab and she informed me that my samples have been sent off for hormone status and she's hopeful that we will know that info on Monday.
I am a control freak in general, and feel powerless right now. I am sure once I know more that some of my anxiety will lessen. For now it's lots of prayers and keeping busy.
I'll keep you posted after the Wed appointment. This is not a group that I ever thought I would be a part of, but thank you all for helping to calm my fears and making me feel so welcome

Its a crappy waiting game for sure. I did not say anything to my kids until I had all the info and knew what I was going to do. Glad you are getting appointments relatively quick. You just want to know, deal and move past.

the waiting is brutal. I’ve said from the beginning that the procedure of getting diagnosed with BC has to get better... in this day, with technology so advanced, why can’t they perform a mammo/us AND, if needed, a biopsy on the same day AND have a pathologist look at the specimen right then and there?!?! Seems to me that the waiting causes stress, which in turn raises blood pressure, that is obviously NOT good for the well being of a potential cancer patient?!?

I totally agree! My husband said right now our theme song is Tom Petty’s “The Waiting (is the hardest part)”! Lol
I’m glad the weekend is almost over. Never wanted to see a Monday morning so quickly in my life. Ready to get the ball rolling
