Hi,

I am Er-, PR-, HER2 +.

completed 12 weekly cycle of Taxol + hereceptin in early march, now on 3-weekly herceptin till Nov this year.

I noticed bruises (though my onco said its pigmentation) on the sides of my face near to the eye area during Chemo. Was told that this should go away after the chemo but it didnt. In fact, its getting darker. It look quiet weird, as if i am being 'boxed" on the face.

those bruise/pigmentation that appeared on the armpit, back of knee etc.. is fading nicely. Just the patches on the face dont.

Does anyone have the same experience?

I didn’t, but wanted to suggest a visit to a dermatologist might be a good idea.

Melasma and/or hyperpigmentation, is a known chemo side effect. It usually fades with time, but if it doesn't, you can try exfoliation with facial scrubs, skin creams that induce cell turnover, like ones with alpha-hydroxyl or Vitamin C or niacinimide - Vit B, or an at home gentle facial peel. As spookiesmom said above, your dermatologist can probably advise about products that may be helpful.

    Tks, Spookiesmom and SpecialK.

I have seen a derma and she presribed Tri-luma cream. Used it for more than a month but didnt see any improvement.

Somehow, the dark patches looks like bruises , instead of pigmentation to me. I am worried if it has anything to do with broken blood vessels due to thinning skin. I also realised that the dark patches get darker after I cried.
