I had an annual 3D mammogram on 5/23/18. I was called back on 5/25 to schedule spot compressions on both breasts followed by a “recommended, not required" ultrasound bilaterally. The findings were:

“The breasts are hererogeneously dense, which may obscure small masses."

“A focal asymmetry in the right central inferior breast is noted. In addition, an asymmetry in the left lateral breast on CC view is noted. Further evaluation with spot compression views, true lateral views and if indicated, ultrasound examination is recommended."

“A focal asymmetry in the right central inferior breast, and an asymmetry in the left lateral breast as discussed above. Further evaluation is suggested. Given patient's dense breaths, bilateral screening ultrasound can be helpful."

I went today for the follow up imaging and the concerning spots could be seen in mammogram in tw views but not on ultrasound. They have schedule me with a surgeon for bilateral biopsies next Friday.

My question is two fold: should I wait on this appointment or should I seek a second opinion now? And why would ultrasound show what they can see on two. Ides of a mammogram

    Hi,

I have received very similar results and am waiting on my previous mammo's to be received for review. I am wondering how everything went for you? Hope you're doing well!

    Thanks!
