Night sweats PRE Tamoxifen

Hi Everyone - I am 3 weeks post BMX, age 45, stage1b, no lymph node involvement. I am being referred to MO for Tamoxifen and I am trying to gain knowledge before I make decisions.

I have suffered from intense night sweats since I was 17. I know that hot flashes/ night sweats are a possible Tamoxifen side effect, but am curious if anyone has started it with a pre-existing long term night sweat issue and how the Tamoxifen effected the situation.

Mine have been no better/no worse on Tamoxifen and I've had hot flashes for years.

SPDGirl- my brother in law was the same way at night ever since he was a teenager. They got a new bed that has a cooling gel something or other in it and no more sweats. He and my sister can actually spoon in bed now without getting drenched. There actually is a cascade of events that happen in your body when you lay down including increased blood flow to the brain, certain areas of the brain start shutting down while others are activated, and body temp is supposed to go down, but then there are those warm jammies and bedcovers. I really think we need to sleep like they tell us babies should...no covers, no pillow, just a onesie.
