Hello everyone...please bare with me as this is my first post.

A couple of weeks ago I had PET/CT scan to rule out metastatic melanoma which was thankfully negative for Melanoma. However, the scan did show avid uptake with a SUVmax of 3.6 in my left breast.

Since the PET, I’ve had a diagnostic mammogram that showed an area of dense tissue and some micro calcifications...mostly scattered, but a few clusters with about 3 deposits each. The radiologist does not feel they are suspicious, but sent me for an ultrasound anyways which resulted in no abnormal findings.

The radiologist is going to perform a Stereotactic biopsy next week.....my question is if my mammogram was not too concerning for BC and nothing showed up on the ultrasound....what would cause my PET scan to show activity? Does anyone have a similar experience?

Thank you for reading my post...any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Have the biopsy.

Here is an article about a pt in a similar position to yours, having an abnormal PET and negative breast imaging that had IDC on breast biopsy. Let us know how it goes.

djmammo...thank you so much for your reply and link to the article. That article reminds me a lot of my own situation minus the lymphoma. I will definitely have the biopsy next week and now I feel more comfortable going through with it based on the article you sent.. thank you again. I will keep you posted on the results :
