Hello ladies... I started college in October of 2014, I found a lump, after we had breast awareness at the college, I did my exam and I found a good sized lump, palpable and would get shooting pains here and there.

In June of 2015, I had my biopsy. It came back as PASH, but they suspected Fibro at first. They recommended it be removed, but I've never been under and I am terrified.

I've watched it every 6 months and it grew, from 2CM to now, 4 cm in 4 years. I am having it removed Thursday morning, I'm so scared of going under but I feel it is time as I am 39 and at this point scary as well.

The lump is like 4.2 CM, oval, defined edges and palpable. Can anyone tell me there is experienced w going under? As well Dr. Said they would do radiation before chemo and it looks to be still in the mass and seems to be benign to him. Please. Any advice? Thoughts??

No advice re: treatments as I am just here due to a lump I just found. But I had a laparoscopy a few years ago and it was my first time going under. I was very scared. Turns out it was the best sleep of my life! Lol... I had a bit of a hard time coming out of it, the anaesthetic had a stronger effect on me that most people so I took a bit longer to recover but it was no big deal I just had to stay in for an extra couple of hours til the grogginess wore off. The doctors and nurseswere so reassuring and it wasn't bad at all. So please don't be worried. Good luck!

Many levels/types of anesthesia-local, intravenous, general?

For my iv sedation at my last colonoscopy Dr leaned down to my ear and said Good Niiiiiight and that's the last thing I remember until I was out of the procedure room and back in the recovery area. I was slightly goofy afterwards in that I walked to the car with my driver but don't actually remember leaving the parking ramp.

If you are having full general anesthesia be sure you obey all the instructions about nothing to eat or drink x hours before their set time and ask if they don't mention routine medications you would normally take to see if they want you to do something different. They might also have some pre-surgery cleansing/scrubbing tasks for you to do at home.

I um kind of ignored the caffeine and aspirin instructions before my simple local biopsy and I bled an unconcerning amount (to me.) Yours is a much bigger surgery so ask if no one mentions to stop aspirin ibuprofen etc x number of days before surgery.
