Happy New Year, cave chicks! Picking up my lazy cheating butt tomorrow and getting back on the no-carb wagon. That’s a promise!

Egads, I knew you were a fellow writer! I am also experiencing a writer’s block since thediagnosis, which is ironic, since I got published twice this year. Plus, the bandaged right arm and hand are unwieldy.

Good Morning Peeps….and onward into 2019!

I'm sparkling head to toe in glitter. My Cavedude and myself spent New Years Day tearing down the Christmas Décor. This after a night of dancing and carousing at a local blues club….which was 23 shades of fun! Putting the Christmas décor away wasn't so cool. One can always tell the season by the glitter gleaming off people. The cashier at the local grocery store had so much glitter on her nose I almost had to don my sunglasses when paying. Unfortunately I'll probably be sweeping up diamond dust until June. Can't manufactures use better glue?

My house is back to boring and I'm firmly planted back on the wagon. Dinner last night was the finale of the duck leftovers and veggies. By 8pm we were both carb craving, not fun, but funny….both watching TV and continually turning to look at the fridge with lust :))) I know it's temporary, but the next few days might see us looking up 12 step programs for sugar :)))) My scale isn't speaking to me….the 1.5 lb upswing is holding firm. Crossing my fingers it's gone by Friday. My planned return to the gym has been cancelled….we were hit with snow, and then higher temps, followed by a freeze up all in 12 ours…..our roads are covered in ice, so it's a home workout for me, hoping to sweat off some of the glitter that even a shower won't get rid of. The Tinkerbell look def isn't me :)))

    On to business……

TwoHThank you for the post on AGEs…..awesome! I wrote about cooking process very early in the thread….especially for meats…..and will be reposting soon, incorporating your info. The wetter the cooking folks, the healthier the food.Everyone should really check out Two H's link….important stuff!! I'm adding to my original intro thread, and will be expanding the category.

I know exactly what you mean about Xmas trees….I was just saying to my Cavedude that we should get a second tree for our downstairs relax area…and a small one for my home gym! You and I will probably end up like 'crazy cat ladies' only with trees instead of cats!! Do your Swedish straw decorations look anything like mine?.......

    image

When you wrote about them I pulled out mystraw decs for the pic…..we're birds of a feather darlin'!!! :)

Pebbles (Flinstone) – Stay tuned for more info on meat (of all types). Your link states:

"Diets high in beef or well done beef have been linked in multiple population studies to higher risks of leukemia and cancers of the esophagus, lung, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, intestine, colon, rectum, endometrium, testis and prostate"

Yes, according to the studies they are correct. The problem lies in the studies ….the studies are completely skewed (eg: the blockbuster study in 2009 used test subjects that weren't healthy to begin with), and even the NCBI confirms this. I won't go into detail here but I'll be reposting in January with all the gory details :))))

LOL@ Waste Management logo!!!No matter the height diff, you two make a gorgeous couple! Is that a dog cart your babies are in?Btw, your home is beautiful!! LOVE the white leather chaise/bench!!

KSuze – Can't wait to see more of your vakay pics! Is the bird in silhouette a humming bird? That's some beak…..he should be able to feed on flowers a mile away! :)))) I'm still grumbling to my Cavedude that I want to go to the Galapagos :))) New glass storage jars & veggies….are you canning or as my mother would say "putting down" veggies?I've always wanted to do this, but never have.

Pixi(dust) – Happy New Year back to ya sweetie!! How's the weight….any improvement? Hope so!!

Inna(godda davida) – I'm still trying to find the Buddha on your tree….where the heck is it?? OMG YOU'RE A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!! I'm not surprised….can you let us in on your titles? I'd LOVE to read your work!! PM if you'd rather keep on the down low….or just tell me to mind my own business ;)))))) I'm sorry about your writers block sweetie, I know just how frustrating and depressing it is…..putting fingers on the keys and nothing happening. Pre-diagnosis I would sit down and type like the wind, then suddenly zilch, zero, nada. If you can or want, post here, ANY subject is welcome, Paleo is a lifestyle, so it's the perfect place to try to get those creative juices going. Btw, when I read you were a writer I turned to my Cavedude and said…."omg….what if Inna is J.K. Rowling….or Margret Atwood…and all this time I've been writing about my colon issues" :)))))))))

Ok, so from all signs so far the Cave Community is getting their heathy eating act together….YAY US!! Remember to post your trials, tribulations, triumphs and even the 'fell flat on my keester' stories. We're here to support and do it so well!

    WORKOUT WEDNESDAY – BAND-AID!!!

Inspired by Paleo Lifer Chick & band member– JKL

Changing up workouts are a necessity……our bodies respond positively to change and make for better muscle and bone building. Incorporating different moves and methods are win-win. So why not give Resistance Bands a whirl?

    image

    BENEFITS:

Adds variety - better response = increase muscle & bone mass

Portable – you can't make any excuses, these puppies can go anywhere you do!

Bands – there is a band all fitness levels (see below)

Increases coordination – Stronger core….oh yeah!

Affordable – Cheapest workout equipment barring body weight

Superset – Mix bands in between lifting iron. Makes super-setting much more doable.

    COLOUR YOUR LEVEL:

Yellow – Extra light for beginners

    Green- Light for intermediate

Red – Medium for intermediate into advanced

    Blue – Heavy for advanced

**Use heavier resistance for lower body (makes sense, we generally are stronger in the bottom half of our bods), and lighter resistance for upper (especially if you're dealing with LEs)

***The taller you are and the longer your limbs, the more resistance you will naturally have…eg: 5'10' will find a green band more challenging than someone 5'3"…..yeah, this means you Pebbles :)))))

Here are just a few of the moves I've been yattering on about in our thread…moves you can do almost anywhere……

    LUNGES:

    image

    BUTT KICKER:

    image

    BICEP CURL:

    image

    MID-BACK PULL:

    image

    TRICEP SHOULDER PRESS BACK:

    image

PUSH UP (love this one for adding 'extra' to a push up:

    image

Wednesday wouldn't be Wednesday without a vid…..total body band workout……..

Please check out the backdrop this lady is exercising in…….I'd do band moves all day if she'd trade homes with me :)))))))))

Bands are a nice way to ease back into New Year fitness....so give them a try!!

They can also be a GREAT last resort item….good for tying up the refrigerator door during carb craves.....

    image

    :)))))))))))))))

Egads, I haven't gained too much yet. Maybe a pound if I'm lucky and I had some back issues which kept me from my real workouts for six days. It takes time to lose and there's always a lag with gaining too, so staying hopeful.

Here is a photo of my highly denominational tree. I think there are four depictions of the nativity in this view. 🤣

Yes my ornaments are similar- wreaths acorns, stars and hearts. I love all things Scandanavian.

I have a resistance band and I love to use them but DH put them somewhere and I cannot wait to run across where. At least i know where my dumbells are.

i am back on the clean wagon today after some delicious enchiladas day before. Really would like to have one little peppermint bark but I am just saying no. I fasted until lunch. Soup and salad with chicken, strawberries, nuts for lunch. More soup for dinner. I was good and full but started to feel a little hungry an hour or so agan, so I had two cups of herbal peach tea instead. One day in the record book.

Only exercise the last coupke of days was cleaning house. Laundry, cleaning my bedroom, bathroom and reworking some storage solutions. Took down most of the Christmas stuff and vacuumed whole house. Next up is KonMari-ing my clothes again and paperwork, ie bills and junk mail. Those are the two most urgent. I am definitely buried and stressed by the mail right now soi have to tackle it.

    Inna as JK Rowling, hmmmm.

OMG I think life is telling me to get resistance bands for 2019 workouts! Saw an infomercial on New Years all about resistance bands, and then Egads' post. Do they even have bands for shorties like me??

Not sure I'm totally back in the wagon yet. Encouraged by all of you I had some bites of red meat over New Years and took some home for leftovers and keeps making its way to my stomach. That said, my calorie count is still at what I need to lose weight so maybe I'm not off the wagon at all if I'm being good on the calories. And I also fasted until lunch today, and got green beans and an orange in as well. But also some apple pie...

What gorgeous trees and decorations. I'm inspired!

How cool that we've been posting with JK Rowling aka InnaB all along and now she's going to get a pom (other thread). But seriously, I want to know the books too! I'd read it!

Egads - Love how you notice all the details and thx!

Anyways I was a bit exhausted today post New Years outings and possibly still because of post rads. So I stayed home from work - Domino perfectly expresses how I felt most of the day!

Ok, I feel I need to set some records straight! 😋

Unfortunately I am not J K Rowling. 😭. I wish I was! I read Harry Potter books with my daughter as they were coming out, and aside from some questionable style choices and heavy borrowing found them very good.

I write short stories and still struggle with English verb tenses and articles, because there are only 3 simple verb tenses in Russian and no articles whatsoever. I wrote one poem in English and it was also published this year in Survivor’s Review. It’s an online magazine for cancer survivors. I just had to make a joke that in order for me to get published I only needed to get cancer.

I am jumping on the diet wagon! I started yesterday, but didn’t lose a single pound yet 🤔 I guess I have to give it a couple of weeks 🤪.

Egads, we should team up and create a blog!

And here is my Buddah, enlarged for your viewing pleasure

    Greetings & Salutations Cave Chicks!!

    Yes its………..

TUTORIAL THURSDAY – HONEY, OHHHHH SUGAR SUGAR!!

Another year, another Holiday Season……and another carb binge. Many of us can relate to taking a header onto the cookie plate for the past few weeks (myself included), leaving unwanted reminders of what we consumed on our scales and feeling slightly crummy/dragged out.

Once we draw the proverbial line in the sand and declare to the world that our healthy eating regime is back on the wagon something else happens….or at least for me it does…hunger/cravings hijack my thoughts.

Sugar, in whatever form you use, is a crafty little bugger that uses hard wired human biology to it's full advantage. Take a peek at PET brain comparison studies….one brain loaded with cocaine, the other brain loaded with sugar. The same areas on both brains are lit up like the Vegas Strip (heh heh)….and in some cases the sugar side was even brighter!

This tells us a number of things, one of them is the addictive nature of sugar….and another is the 'high' or 'good feelings' sugar offers….much like cocaine does.

    image

The pic above demonstrates (IMHO) why sugar should classified as a controlled substance.

    image

After carb binges peeps often feel the need to regularly get a fix…..appetite is increased. Dec 31st found me ravenously chowing down until the light bulb went on…… I put down and backed away from my fork. It was my time to stand up and say "Hi I'm Egads, and I'm a sugar addict". The 23 shades of cool thing lies in the fact that the body/brain is just as crafty an engineer as sugar/carbs. In a few days to a week and the cravings will stop, my appetite will decrease and I'll be happy to sit in the wagon…energy returned, scale dropping downwards.

Backing away from the treats and your fork may seem really HARD.

One of the most effective ways of battling the draw down the carb path is to understand exactly what happens when you do overindulge….KNOWLEDGE IS POWER….and a great tool for getting your 'No, I ain't going there' back on.

Let's scope out what goes on in Sugarland

Eat a cookie or three and………..

    • Possible guilt sets in……a feeling that you've blown your health profile to hell.
    • The Domino effect (not Pebbles pooch :)) – Your pancreas goes into overdrive and sends a flood of insulin through your bloodstream to mop up the extra cookie glucose. You may at this point get a 'high', or 'oh yum this is soooooo good' feeling. Some may feel slightly nauseous or start sweating (this is me), but continue eating because of my brain saying it wants more of a hit.
    • The flood of insulin in your bloodstream creates a see-saw effect. If your glycogen (the energy storage) have room to spare some of the sugar goes into the muscle fibers. Once filled, the excess sugar the moves on into the fat cells…where it's stored as fat (yikes!).
    • Your body goes on red alert….trying to restore harmony by releasing epinephrine(hormone that increases heart rate & blood pressure) and cortisol (stress hormone).
    • Over time and 'sugar crash' sets in….you may feel sluggish, sleepy.

    It doesn't end there….

    • The chaos this sugar rush and hormone release sends the immune system on it's ear…..for hours! (AT LEAST 5 hours for simple sugar, 2-3 for others, more below). Free radicals (yikes!) are having a street party in your system allowing for a plethora of bad things to happen. Your blood thickens in response to all the stressors. Your sleep will be affected….whether you fall asleep, or lie awake, eyes as big as large cookies.

    Last but not least….

    • Your immune system can be compromised for the next 24 hours if your dose was a hefty one (simple sugar, 1 piece of cake, 2 cookies)

If your diet over time is riding the heavy carb carousel you'll be risking the development insulin resistance (diabetes), a deep fried adrenal system and your body will be constantly battling itself….inflammation becomes a constant state. Add in lack of exercise to that carbed up body and you'll be pickled.....literally....and I'm not even delving into the sugar/breast cancer/all cancers correlations to liver, kidney, heart disease or obesity aspect! We'll save those for another day ;)

Those post-Christmas treats aren't looking so attractive right now, are they?

Knowing exactly what is going on behind the scenes should be kept tucked into the pocket of your mind….making it not so hard to turn down what your mind may be screaming for…..Christmas, holidays, or even your dog's birthday, keep that mental note handy and use it as a crutch.

    The good news…..

Our bodies are truly miraculous, after a few days of clean eating and all is restored. If you're eating and exercisingMOST of your days the carb wagon will have little to no effect in MOST cases. Fasting for a day helps enormously after celebrations. If there is pre-existing damage, clean eating and exercise can make a world of difference and prevent further damage. Keeping treats on the down low and in blue moon zone is key….and easier when you're armed with information.

To borrow and bastardize a phrase from Nike – Just Don't Do It…..as a regular thing.

…..and we'll end with some sweet music....

Chorus - "Honey, ohhhhh sugar sugar, you are my candy girl, and you got me wantin' you" – The Archies1969…apparently the Archies didn't see the PET scan :))))))

As usual kids, y'all have a low/no sugar-it-ain't-so-hard splendiferous day!!

    ;)

    Morning Peeps!

Well, it looks like my sugar post went over like a lead ballon :)))))) Meh, can't win em' all, especially when you post on the nastiness that folks treats contain…..I'll be watching for a crowd approaching my cave with torches and pitchforks in hand ;)))

Good news from my scale today, down 1 pound, ½ more until pre-seasonal weight is reached. Have to assume it was water retention from the salt and carbs. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I'm 5-10 lbs from my goal weight. It's been hanging on for dear life longer than I care to remember. Because I push iron it could simply be a matter of gained muscle mass but I'm thinking it's not….and so does my tape measure. I also thought that stopping the tamoxifen might make the diff…..nope. Time will tell….marching forward!

Last but not least, I'd like to put a request in to the Gulf of Mexico…..could you PLEASE stop creating precipitation that flows DIRECTLY over my city…..send it somewhere else, we've had enough already! ;)

    On to business….

Pixi(dust) – Great to see the almost one pound gain! You mentioned not being able to workout and gaining a bit. Can I ask how much cardio and what pace you include in your regime? Your tree is lovely!

TwoH – I'm a big fan of scandanavian too. When I moved to Hell-ifax I had Ikea withdrawls. When they announced plans to build here I was jumping for joy….and when they opened I was tempted to camp out overnight to be the first through the door :))Congrats on a successful Day One, atta' girl! Don't think housework isn't much in the way of exercise…..it combines low cardio (best kind) with resistance. I guess that is why the word 'work' is in there……although it should be 'homedrugery' if you want my opinion :))This is getting scary….I had a convo with my Cavedude about Kon-Mar'ing. Her OCD ways appeal to me….well except for my junk drawer, that stays! A junk drawer IMHO is a place to store a wee bit of human insanity….like a physical vent. Stay tuned for a KM post soon…..it's been on my agenda.

Pebbles (Flinstone) – I think Domino perfectly expresses New Years Day…..I love the way that pooch relaxes, I'm learning from her! Yay I remembered she was female :)))) Resistance bands are good for shorties…..just up the resistance and you'll be good to go (eg. The medium will be harder for a tall person than yourself….taking it up to advanced level should even out the playing field). Apple pie? LOL, check out my sugar post, that'll take the apples out of your pie….joking of course ;) Stewed apples with lots o' cinnamon is a great sub….top with toasted coconut…yummers!

Inna (godda rowling) – Ok, so now that you've let the cat out of the bag we need to be directed to your work! Sweetie, I have to say that for someone not writing in their mother tongue your style is amazing! I don't see your struggle in your words, so kudos!! You have a sharp sense of humour that has had me rolling more times than I can count. A calaborative blog…..ohhhhhh that sounds FUN!!! What would we write about? I pondered this and thought a starting point could be the slings and arrows we suffer while taking Ais….or any other subject really. The important thing is to write. Do you have any thoughts on subject matters? One last question and I'll stop grilling you ;) You wrote "questionable style choices and heavy borrowing" in reference to Rowling's work. Care to expand? LOVE the Buddha and THANK YOU for taking the close up….how the hell did I miss it?? Yup, thou art olde Egads!

MIA LIST: JKL, Juniebee, Vamp, Sassy, Kathindc, Jadejo, and anyone else my bad memory won't let come through….where ya be? Wherever it is, hoping it's warm & comfy! Missing y'all!!

    Have a splendiferous day Peepers!

Egads, thanks for your info-posts! Everyone, thanks for your tree photos (and pets, too)!

Egads, the glassware isn't for canning, but meal prep:

[3 Pcs] Glass Meal Prep Containers Glass 2 Compartment - Glass Food Storage Containers - Glass Storage Containers with Lids - Divided Glass Lunch Containers Food Container - Glass Food Containers 25oz

Search "divided glass food storage containers" on Amazon. The lids are plastic but the gaskets are silicon.

I'm working down but still 2.5# above mid-December. Not a lot of food choices when you're on a nature tour in another country! Not doing a particular diet at the moment, though reducing simple carbs.

For exercise fun, I'm walking a fake Camino Francés of the Camino de Santiago, noting how far I walk and what's along the way in a guidebook. I'm not doing it at the Camino's standard pace of around 24 kilometers a day since, not actually being on the Camino, I need to do things like go to work, which really eats into the available walking time. Now and then I'll post my progress, "starting" and "ending" points, and the overall distance walked (=walked + Zumbaed), and possibly amusing notes about things I'd see if I were actually there.

KSuze - Thank you darlin'! I always have a nagging fear of boring the heck out of peeps. That said, this is a community, I encourage any criticism or suggestions for new/better posts...so feel free peeps! Ohhhhhhh, now ya' got me shoppin' on Amazon. I've got an 18 piece set, oven proof, with the silicone lids in my cart already! You know me and the relationship I have with my freezer, this is going to be a good thing....as Martha would say. So glad you posted....most units don't have the silicone seal, so woot! I also saw a set of beeswax reusable sealing paper....great for the fridge. Maybe this isn't such a good thing for the pocketbook :))))). LOVE your walking plans and really look forward to your progress/anecdotes/maybe pics during your travels...please post when you can.....yeah, work gets in the way doesn't it? ;) I forecast a quick drop in that 2.5 lbs considering your plans....walking cardio is so good for weight loss, and everything else! Is your lovely wife joining in on your ped plans?

FUNNY FRIDAY – Let's get personal!

For a second Friday in a row I'm cancelling my Foodie post. I don't know about y'all, but right now I need to concentrate on squeaky clean eating…..and other things than food. Of course it goes without saying that the Cavies are free to post about food today, or any other subject….so yeah, feel free to post if the need strikes.

Paleo is a lifestyle, not a diet.

Connecting and enjoying those around us a big part of the deal…..it reduces stress, leads to joy, laughter and a sense of comfort. We're all so different, but we mesh. The humour flung about this thread is important, so why not take a poke at ourselves?

    I'll start….

    Weird n' Wonderful Egads Facts

    1. As a child I ate the paper liner off muffins. Fiber?
    2. When I vomit (sorry) I cry a little (not heaving sobs, just a few upset tears).
    3. I'm a closet road rager….and estimate that I've killed 340 people through internal vehicular manslaughter muttering.
    4. In my youth I wanted to be a famous singer, but gave up after the cold hard reality set in – my singing voice sounds much like two cats fighting in an alley.
    5. Coffee is an integral part of my hemoglobin.
    6. I was extremely shy and quiet as a child. Hahahahahahahahah!!
    7. At times my mother can drive me bonkers…..and we're so much alike. Karma?
    8. A perfect world for me would include: A chaise lawn chair, sunshine, reading cookbooks, but never having to venture into the kitchen and healthy, non-smelly, good tasting cigarettes (quit 5.5 years ago). Workouts would be bad for your health.
    9. Penelope Pittstop was my childhood hero. She drove fast, was blonde, wore tight pink clothing and had that awesome southern accent. …..everything I'm not….well, except for the lead foot.
    10. Speaking of feet, I wish I could wear size 6 shoes…*sigh*… there are times I think my 8.5's resemble something Ronald McDonald would wear.

Anyone care to take to post their idiosyncrasies? Funny stories? Pics? Fun scccchhhtuff?

    TGIF kids!! ;)

    Morning Egads. Paleo lurker here.

I loved your sugar post. I like to bake but keep cookies in the freezer for guests or my DH (who sometimes needs sweetening.) I admit I have been eating one dreamy chocolate a day from the Xmas stash but will stop now that I have picked out the best ones 😁.

Just thinking about how sugar feeds cancer makes me want a piece of celery. At least after I've eaten all the nuts and caramels from the chocolate box.

You and your tribe are a wonderful positive group. Not sure about the Paleo but adore the Pals! I am staying with my low carb high veg diet though I am leaning vegan. Still trying to find delicious recipes. Many vegan recipes are too bland or taste like compost to me. I like the Indian recipes but DH can't eat spicy. I signed up for a vegetarian cooking class at a fancy restaurant so maybe I will find some new tips.

I know what you mean about precipitation. We are drowning on our little island. I am searching YouTube for how to build an ark. Heavy rains followed by windstorms took out our power FOR 8 DAYS over Christmas (30 big trees down just in our neighbourhood) and power went out again last night. We are sitting with the generator on as I type. Here is how we spent Christmas:

    image

Fortunately no one was hurt but many freezer losses and cancelled parties. I wonder if there is a way to cook with tree fibre? We have lots

KSusan what a good idea to track the Camino from home! In my dreams I would do that trek.

Pixi, so nice to see you again!

Inna, keep on writing. I love short stories.

Pebbles, I am not usually a dog person but your Domino is adorable!

Hobbies, I need some of that Kon Mari inspiration. I am afraid to go in the basement.

Oh, Egads about those 5-10 pounds hanging on for dear life, thanks so much but I don't want them back! 😘

    ❤️

Ksuzan, I really envy your walks! During chemo and rads I walked more than 5 miles a day and loved every step. But of course, this was in summer and early fall. Now I have a challenge fitting into shirts and jackets with my lymphedema wrap, so no walks for me until the end of winter. I still exercise every day, though. Pilates, HIIT, yoga, Zumba, whatever. I try to do something different every day, and thanks to free Amazon Prime videos, it’s possible.

Egads, your sugar post was very informative and definitely didn’t go over like a lead ball! I also lost 1.5 lb since Tuesday! And I am also 10 lb away from my goal weight! Of course, I was 10 lb away from the goal for 2 years now, but this time I have a good feeling about it.

Rowling, right? Ok, since you asked, I really think she is overusing alliterations as a trope. Rowena Rawenclow, Salazar Slytherin, whose totem is a slithering snake, Sneering sallow-skinned Snape, etc. I think that was laid a bit heavy. Also, almost all characters are one-dimensional. I can count on my fingers the interesting ones: Snape, Voldemort, Sirius, a few others, that’s about it. And as for borrowing, Tolkien’s heirs can sue her big time, if they chose. For example, The scene from the 6th book where Dumbledore and Harry are trying to retrieve the locket has so many similarities to the Moria episode from The Lord of the Rings, it’s downright embarrassing. And Dumbledore is Gandalf in disguise. However, even with these criticisms I liked the books and am a huge fan of the whole Harry Potter world. We watched every Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter movies multiple times. My son is a proud owner of a magic wand from Disney World, and for awhile he was trying to have his homework done by the means of pointing it to the notebook and whispering commands in the mock Latin.

As for my published pieces, you can read the poem called Ode to My Hair here: www.survivorsreview.org. The story is coming out in March, but if you want to read it now pm me your e-mail address and I will send it to you.

Blog! Maybe we can share our survival strategies and struggles, recipes, exercises, and such. I had a literary blog for some time, but it sort of interferedwith my writing, so I gave it up. But I am willing to give it another try with proper motivation!

Happy New Year, All! I've been quiet on this site for a while, but anything but quiet IRL. Christmas is always a busy time for me with shopping, wrapping, decorating, baking etc and this year it seemed to take longer than usual. Combining that with my regular gym workouts exhausted me so much that I came down with another upper respiratory infection, complete with rib-bruising coughing. So - long story not so short - I've been taking it very easy and am finally starting to feel normal again.

Egads, I apologize for not mentioning this sooner but I am very grateful for your posts. I really enjoy using my bands and I am going to make your band exercises my go-to workout when I travel. And your explanation of the effect of sugar/carbs - thank you! I finally understand why my PCP has been nagging me to limit those delicious calories. I still love them but I will try to avoid them as much as possible!

DH and I usually forego gifts and make charitable donations in each other's names at Christmas. But this year he surprised me with an additional gift - six sessions with a personal trainer at my gym! I am going to have her set up a new weightlifting workout for me so I can alternate workouts weekly (I am addicted to the weight machines and use them 3-4 times a week). I know my muscles have gotten used to my regular routine and your post about that, Egads, is inspiring me to make a change. Again, I thank you!

I will leave for my mammogram appointment in a few minutes. It's strange, but I'm feeling more nervous about today's scan than last year's (which was my first post-treatment one). The downside of this website is that I now understand how random - - and how likely - recurrence can be. Fortunately, my BS orders 3D diagnostic mammograms so mine will be read immediately and I will speak with the radiologist before I leave the facility. I am looking forward to putting this in my rear view mirror!

I am thinking about all of you and will post again after I return. Have a wonderful day.

Hello paleo pals! I love that DearLife calls us our little tribe, kind of feels like that (and welcome DearLife! Domino has a knack for making non-paw people paw tolerant lol).

InnaB - I too am amazed that English is your second language, your writing is perfect. Congrats on being published too!

And AmazonPrime workout videos? Where? How?

Ksusan - I also need to do things like go to work, which is pressing into my walking time in general. How do you do it? Before all the treatment I was getting into the habit of going to a nearby gym during my lunch break. Now that I'm back in the office post-rads going to try that again but it's been tough.

JKL - good luck today! I didn't know about 3D mammograms, Will have to ask about that when it's my turn

Egads - that last 5-10 lbs is the hardest to lose! I've had a really difficult time pushing past the initial 28 lbs weight loss and I'm not even on tamoxifen yet. Trying though! Hardest for me is getting into an exercise routine again which I know I have to do. How can I motivate myself?

Oh and the sugar post was good and very informational! Just didn't reply because I have to do that thing called work lol so didn't have time for a response yesterday. Right now typing while I'm waiting for a doctor's appt - this one not for bc but for one mild stim round of IVF to retrieve some hopefully good eggs before I start the tamoxifen journey. So much going on! Will be nice to have less appointments and follow ups, having completed radiation recently it's felt pretty constant.

Here's a fun one for fun Friday facts - yes this is me as a kiddo and how I got the nickname Pebbles!

    image

Another fun fact - the red wagon is something my husband got for 16 or 17 year old Tucker (he's a rescue so we don't know his exact age, he was 1 or 2 when my husband adopted him and they've been together 15 years) in case he needed it on long walks back. But he refuses to sit in it when we're outside, and Domino loves it! So she doesn't need it but always hops in just for the ride lol. Case in point:

    image

And Tucker refusing to use the wagon:

    Hey Chickaroos!!

I've got exactly 3 minutes to respond, but will be back later with a reply to y'all...Cavedude is due any minute so I have to look like I've been actually doing something :))))))))) Nutty day actually.

Anyhoodle….big hugs to each and everyone of you.....thank you for confirming that my worst fears weren't true! I hope to hell I didn't come off as a whiny attention seeking putz......that wasn't my intention at all! I can see how it might have come across that way though. I get that we all have lives and can't post everyday....we always manage to bring it back together. My passion for all this scccctuff leads me to worry about what I am posting may be a real yawner. :))))

Thank you again...and I was serious when I said any critiques or changes/wants/needs are encouraged...you ask, we all answer, we all deliver.

You chicks float my boat... You're 23, not make that 23,000,000 shades of cool!!!

10 seconds and counting...oops early lift off, he's home, where's my June Cleaver apron?!?!?!?! :))))))))

Loved your fun facts, Egads and Pebbles. I'll play - Weird and wonderful (not sure about the wonderful!) JKL facts:

    1. I once drove a new Porsche at 150 mph (on the autobahn, so it was legal!) and LOVED the speed!

    2. I have had three psychic experiences in my life (one involving something happening far away at that very moment and two in which I glimpsed my own future). As a result of one of those experiences, I believe 100% that there is an afterlife.

    3. I'm a not-so-closeted road rager. My DH and I have a game we play in which we each get one opportunity a day to “take out" the bad driver of our choice. I think he created the game to prevent me from doing anything more to them than imagining their demise!.

    4. My DD and DS(tep)D both think I was well-behaved in my younger years; I was NOT! (My DS once mentioned that he thinks I have a pact with the Devil so he clearly doesn't think I was any kind of angel!)

    5. I'm very non-athletic (think klutz) and have had a ton of athletic injuries (go-kart, diving board, horses, skiing, tennis, football ... to name a few). And yet I keep doing these things ...

    6. I'm a rabid Duke basketball fan and my RO (whom I adore!) is a huge UNC basketball fan. (If you don't follow college basketball just know that is a HUGE rivalry.) I had radiation during March Madness of 2017 (the year UNC won the National Champtionship) and he and I talked trash about each other's team every time I had a treatment. Our relationship made my rad experience fun!

    7. I can't sing at all (bet I'm worse than you, Egads!) but I can play the piano and the violin (and the air guitar).

    8. I am interested in and will read about almost anything

    9. I am a great gift-giver. I am always looking for the perfect gifts for friends and family and I love giving someone a beautifully wrapped present.

    10. I make awesome (unfortunately, non-Paleo) salted peanut butter cookies.

BTW, mammogram was fine. I really appreciate that my scan is read on the spot and that I get the results before I leave. It sure reduces the scanxiety!

Wow, JKL #2 is so cool. Yes to clear mammograns.

Inna congrats on your publication. I usedto love writing but I think due to my job being numbers related, it fell by the way side.

Pebbles, now I understand the nickname. You were too cute.

Egads Good post on sugar. I can add that the way to get over a sugar blowout for me is three days of low carb.

I am on the ipad so dont want to do a long list of facts. I hate typing on this thing. But interesting that Egads #3-7 I could have written.

    1. I was a talented piano player in my youth. My piano teacher owed it to my “strong hands”. I loved music and still do but it didnt seem like a career. Now someimes I wonder if I should have pursued it.

    2. My true passion has been health and nutrition all my life. My father died from a heart attack at a young age and that propelled my curiosity. I went to college as a nutrition major, and in the stupidest move of my life, decided to switch my major to business. My favorite website is stil Science Daily.

    3. If I could be anywhere it is on a tropical beach with good snorkeling. I love a beautiful carribean blue water and seeing gorgeous fish and coral below.

Well I also had to go back to work so i am probably back to being a weekender. I was back up to my previous weight before my sickness after the holidays but did lose one pound Wed-Fri.I still want to try to get back to that lower weight but I firmly believe your diet has to be your lifestyle so I dont bother with something I cant sustain.

I exercised a lot yesterday on our warm 51 degree day. Walked around the lake , walked my dog later and raked leaves that fell while I was in the hospital. Exercise makes me super hungry and I ate a lot afterward but kept it paleo with hard boiled eggs and an orange for snack while I prepared shrimp and a big pan of roasted vegetables for dinner. Then I had a kind bar, which always helps fill me up and is pretty low sugar. My feet are feeling the exercise this morning.

Thx all! And BTW I'm not vain enough to have a baby photo of me at my place - that picture is from my parents' place lol.

Awesome facts. I agree that in particular JKL2017's #2 fact, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and encouraged. And TwoHobbies #1 - i empathize. I danced and choreographed throughout high school and college and even won awards but was discouraged from pursuing it as a career by my parents (very Asian to discourage pursuing the creative arts and encourage steady job which is what I have now). Wonder if I missed my calling, true passion, and if I even would have gotten the bc had I followed my passions instead. Oh well, hindsight...

InnaB thank you! And I second your comment to Egads! More please

Anyways I just got out of an egg retrieval surgery this morning! It all went smoothly, whew! It's a much simpler 15 min surgery but I was still nervous. Now recovering so have to wait at least a week to exercise. Hopefully this is my last surgery for awhile, or ever! I went from no surgeries or even a broken bone ever to lumpectomy and 2 IVF surgeries within a year.

Domino thinks it's awesome to have a day in bed!

    > I also need to do things like go to work, which is pressing into my walking time in general. How do you do it?

I have a homemade treadmill desk (treadmill with flat arms, to which I've affixed foam shock absorption and a shelf--easy but effective). I can't type or read and walk faster than about 2.8 MPH, but it adds up. Yesterday I broke 45,000 steps while prepping classes.

Happy New Year Cave Friends! Today we are back to routine, kids to school, husband to work and house to myself! It's so quiet in here, I don't know if I like this. lol I am behind on the posts and replying, likely won't get to it... sorry.

Egads I love your posts - all of them and I love the repeat ones as this reminds my feeble brain why it is I am trying to be healthy. It's not that I don't read them, I just don't absorb and hold onto all the information like I should, so forgive me if I ask questions that have already been posted about. If they have send me looking in the thread for it. :)

Kids and I are trying to be healthy, some days I find stressful to do so and say screw it. We had 3 great days of eating and on the forth we failed. DH and I went out in the afternoon and by the time we realize how late it was my stomach was already growling, there was no chance I could hold off for another 2 hours so we ate crap. I will say this for the crap food sure cleans out your system. lol Today we are back on track and hopefully will continue to do so until the night we go see Dierks in concert!

Walking has been my only exercise lately and I am hating it, I want to do my squats, lunges, step aerobics and life weights. I hate that I am on limited for my neck and do hope that tomorrow the PT will allow something back into my routine, but I doubt it as I have had a terrible Christmas break with pain. So walking and posture correcting it is.

Anyone else suffer with SAD or anxiety or depression or fear of dying? I found the holidays to be hard, Christmas Eve I found myself praying I would wake in the am to see the boys open their gifts. I find myself worried I won't wake up and start to worry about the boys if I am not here. Thankfully routine includes back to mental therapy this week.

We adopted a couple of girls yesterday. Seem to a bit nervous still, hopefully they will settle in nicely soon. Meet Marbles (tan and white) and Scabbers:image

    Have a great day ya'll.

    Good Day Cave Peepers!!

    image

My trip to Vegas took the form of a failure to fast for 24 hours over the weekend. By noon on Saturday my stomach launched a revolution and succeeded the coup d'etat by having me eat a small handful of roasted almonds. My insane hunger made me powerless, so I listened to my body and gave in to the charms of the roasted nuts. This wasn't Vegas, more of a failed attempt, but I'm not going to dwell as it wasn't like I ate an entire flour based cake. Fasting has never been my thing, and I've never had much weight loss success with it……whatever I lose is back on again 24-36 hours after the fast. Intermittent fasting is more my style. Skip a meal here, skip a meal there, skip a meal everywhere :))

My Cavedude and myself have been squeaky clean this past week and I'm happy to report we both feel SO MUCH BETTER. Carb craves are on the down swing, yippee!! I napped on Sunday afternoon (yippee ki-yah!!!)…..man oh man I love naps....and think I could take home the gold if I made napping a sport! All in all a pretty mundane but restful weekend…..how was yours?

On to business…..WARNING, this is going to be a long one…….what else is new :))))

DearLife – Hey there!!! Great to see you post again!!……lurker or occasional posts, you can always count on having a seat reserved here…..albeit it's made of stone, but we do have a nice fire going , maybe even a few Paleo marshmallows to roast (low carb, vegan) :)I LOL'd at your 5-10 lb comment….I'll have to find a better phrase to attach my excess weight to :)))) Please keep us posted on how your upscale restaurant cooking lessons go (soundsawesome!!)…..and feel free to share. I haven't found many recipes yet that can't be tweaked to suit any eating style. I have 4 billion recipes for Indian food (tweakable), some pretty mild too, feel free to hit me up….hmmmm I feel a food post coming on :) If your DH can't do spice you could always make ahead and freeze individual portions for yourself….for lunches etc.I'm fortunate, my Cavedude adores Indian too, but if hedidn't I wouldn't go without, I'd be freezing enough to reach Darjeeling and back!! :))))) Spending Christmas with a generator….how awful! Last year we had about the same, insane winds knocking down trees, flooding…..45,000 with no power = no turkey (we lucked out). Living on either end of this great country of ours guarantees "neither rhyme nor reason" winter weather. Yesterday was +6, today it's -18….parka, spring jacket, parka, spring jacket. :))) That is quite the pic…..perhaps that tree could give you a good start on ark building??If you find a good set of plans, post them pls! ;)Again, great to see you post again….your humorous & wise comments were missed!!

Inna (godda davida)WOW!!!! Your poem made me smile, laugh, sad, and say "oh I hear ya!!" It made me feel…..which is the whole point isn't it? A wonderful piece darlin'!!!You have talent….keep pushing through the writers block, the world needs your words…..and I'm proud to have that talent right here in our Cave Community. Thank you so much for generously sharing that link. If y'all haven't checked it out yet, please take a peek at our Inna's poem…. Ode to My Hair here: www.survivorsreview.org.

You wrote: "was 10 lb away from the goal for 2 years now, but this time I have a good feeling about it." I couldn't help lol'ing …..we seem to share a lot in common….the writing, the AI switch, the same extra poundage….and about the same amount of time it's been hanging around :)))) I do think that fitness has something to do with it. I know I've replaced fat with muscle, and that I've been able to comfortably fit into clothing that I wore 10 lbs ago…..but I don't like where the excess sits on my body (middle & arms)….and I want the scale & measuring tape to shout "YOU MADE IT!!". I'll take up your good feeling and run with it….time to blast that scale down! I'll be PM'ing you in future regarding a collaborative blog, just catching my breath from the holiday season and am still not back on my feet yet. Spoiler alert……we won't be alone…..another Cave Chick and myself have been talking for a while now…..this might be bigger and more awesome than we planned if we put our three heads together! You game?? Your Rowling impressions made me think. Yes, the alliteration was overused…..perhaps because it appeals to children? The borrowed material…yes I concur…the father figure theme especially…it seems to run through so many genres. I want to thank you for giving me the green light on attention seeking…for my next act I'll be doing voice impressions & a soft shoe routine, all while riding a unicycle, knitting a sweater ;))))))))) (gratuitous Flinstone rip off )…hugs darlin, you're awesome!!

JKL – Don't doubt the 'wonderful' in your list…..autobahn, porsche, speed….pretty much sums up wonderful!! Lordy lady, you sure have some talent….violin AND piano!! All I could manage from years of high school music class was to squeak out the A & W root beer tune on a clarinet :))))))) Psychic experiences….I've also had a few freaky deaky events, but my die hard atheism holds me back from accepting….still, was weird at the time. My mother (die hard skeptic) had one that blew my mind. So much so I can't even think on it much, nevermind write about it. Maybe we should have a "Kreskin-esk" post, just for giggles? Your #4,5 & 8….yes m'am….I hear ya!! High 5's on the clear immaging…woot!!!! No need AT ALL to apologize….as I said, we have lives and they come first….glad you found the sugar post interesting….thank you for your kind words, you're too sweet!! Trainer….my heart LEPT when I read about your DH's AWESOME gift….you're going to love it…..Training cost was the best money I've spent in the last few years and the benefits far outweigh the cost. Consider going further if funds allow….it would be a gift for yourself & family. I plan on doing a few 'refresher' sessions soon, learning new moves and having my form checked out…..I love training sessions!! Enjoy and keep us posted….can't wait to read about your experience!!

Holy Cow I write long posts……onward….;)

Pebbles (Flintstone) – IVF……so glad you got through and am excited at the prospect of following your journey here…..we need more cavecubs!! Keep those feet up this week and heal…..well deserved!! Aw hell darlin', if I was as cute as you are in that childhood pic I'd have it blown up to poster size and hang it over the fireplace :))))) You were too cute for words!!! My mother used to put my hair in the same 'pebbles' style….I can still feel the pain on my scalp after she took the band out of my hair at the end of the night….I think I still have pressure marks on the top of my head :)))) Prime Vids….log into your Amazon account and hit either the 'Your Account' or 'Your Prime' tabs…follow the tabs to 'Prime Video' or 'Watch' tabs…sit back, watch and enjoy! How do you motivate yourself for exercise?

    1. Stop telling yourself that you don't want to do it, or that it's hateful/awful. Power of positive thinking…even if you have to fake at first by telling yourself that you like it, it will soon become addictive…especially when you start getting stronger and feeling all 'look at me go!'.

    2. Start SLOW, jumping in too fast or hard and you'll end up with horrible muscle soreness (DOMS) and possible injuries. This isn't a race and there is no deadline, take your time getting there.

    3. Pick a routine that appeals & is doable.

    4. Decide on how many days/week, reps/sets and stick to it until you're comfy.

    5. Set goals and give yourself rewards when you reach them eg: "I finally was able to do 3 sets/10 reps of bicep curls with ease, I'm going to Sephora!!!"

    6. Post progress here, often, for support and to keep yourself accountable for all successes and any flops. There is power in numbers ;)

Last but not least, LOVE the cart. I want one too!! :))))))

Almost there….if there is anyone still reading :))))))………

TwoH – I'm so sorry to read about your Dad, it had to have been so rough.I lost my father when I was in my 30's and that was hard. I can't imagine how much harder it would have been in childhood….hugs!. Science Daily is a fabulous website!! Awwwwww, we're going to miss your smiling posts during the week….but of course understand. Work happens. Any news on the job search front? Try to find one that gives you personal online time ;)))))) Another piano player….I'm pea green both at your talent and at your temperature….we are 21 F here today….brrrrrrrr. You wrote: "I firmly believe your diet has to be your lifestyle so I dont bother with something I can't sustain"AMEN!!! Kudos on being down 1 lb, and btw Kind bars are the only 'chocolate bar' I occasionally buy (choc almond sea salt)….sometimes after working out (grocery store is right next to the gym)…..this prevents me from eating my way through the produce section and getting my butt locked up for 'consumption shoplifting' :))))) Like you, a workout makes me ravenous. Take it easy at work and don't let em' get to you!!!

Ksuze – Ok, you get the position of Cave Architectural Engineer…….what an awesome idea!!!! You've got me thinking that I should hook up a chopping board to my rowing machine….I could prep dinner and keep up those total steps :))))))) Seriously great idea you brought to fruition!! 45,000 steps…..betnween that number and the treadmill hack you get the Cave's 5 golden clubs award for the achievements!!!

Vampriella – Just insert our conversation from this morning…..and keep the head up and the Prime Vid rolling. You've had more on your plate than a lot of folks so it's no wonder you're still finding your footing. Call anytime you want, there's always a shoulder and ear to lean on when it's overwhelming. You'll pull through…..you're too damned strong not too!! HUGS!!! Your new pets are so CUTE!!! I hope to see them real life one day soon!!

Okey Dokey whew, think I've covered it all. Btw kids, the "list of idiosyncrasies" is still open. I LOVED reading what y'all wrote and encourage more posts…or even additions or addendums to your posts. This is a great way of strengthening the bond we so obviously share here in the Cave.

I'll shut up now ( I can hear the cheering ;)), and as always…..wishing everyone a splendiferous day!!

    Hi all!

I'm going to come out from behind my rock where I've been lurking for a while now. I haven't done Paleo diet for a couple of years as we found it a bit difficult with all the travel we need to do for my treatment. But I keep getting dragged into this convo with the yummy looking recipes. I lost 35 lbs on it the first time around & am back to what I weighed in my 20's which my Dr says is perfect (the only piece of perfection on me! )

I don't exercise per se, I live on the west coast so I have massive weeding, raking tree droppings & shovelling dirt on this sandstone rock we call home. I call it my dirt therapy.

I live on a different island but not too far from Dear Life. The picture she posted could have been from our street on Christmas. We were without power for "only" 6 1/2 days, but didn't have to cook dinner. Our neighbours got their power back on Christmas eve & nicely invited us to Christmas dinner. It wasn't paleo but not too far off.

Looking forward to joining in the conversations & getting to know all of you better.

    cheers, dee

Welcome Dee! How awful for you and DearLife to be without power for so long, do you have a backup generator as well? My husband is looking into getting us one just in case something like that happens here.

Yesterday I sent my husband a question if I will ever be anxiety free. Then sent him a picture of Scabbers as I was holding her at the time, he told me to hug and squeeze the rat to feel better and call him George. DH always jokes that I am the yeti from Bugs Bunny with animals and our children. lol

    image

Egads - can you remind me what I am looking for when purchasing Gelatin? I found no GMO, grass fed beef on Amazon and was thinking of ordering some for the twins Lego "gummies".

Last night I fell asleep listening to my son singing his song from school, it was nice. He is practicing again right now as I type this, he has a lovely voice.

Off to start my day. Have a good one cave friends.

    Morning Cavies!!!

I'm freezing!! Cannot seem to get my fingers moving properly so I may make more typos than usual…meh, you're smart cookies, you'll figure it out ;)Today a tech from Hell-ifax Water is coming in to install a brand new water meter……so they can wring every drop out of my wallet I suppose, excuse the pun :)))) The main connection is in my pantry…..there better not be any almond flour missing :)))))

Squeeky clean eating is still on track, appetite is no longer sending me texts every minute and that last ½ lb from the Christmas gain is gone….yay!! How y'all managing the New Year Clean Eats?

    On to business……

Dee (GG27) – A big hello and even bigger welcome!! We love 'flipping' lurkers :))) I jest of course! Great to see a fellow Paleo join our Cave Community! We have a variety of peeps here, some Paleo/Primal, some Keto, Mediterranean and the occasional Plant Based…a good mix of great gals! Are you considering a Paleo restart? Already there? Btw….what an awesome weight loss story you have! 35 lbs and holding…yay you!! Paleo was the only regime that saw me finally drop the Volkswagen I was carrying around my midsection post treatment. You wrote "I don't exercise per se"…..IMHO your dirt therapy is the perfect Paleo workout!! Exactly what the ancient ancestors did….they weren't fool enough to join GoodLife the way we do :)))) All that work is guaranteed to provide cardio, resistance and strength training….lucky you! So yeah…that for darned sure is exercise! Awesome that you're near DearLifeyou two live in a gem of a province….the pics DearLife posts are gorgeous!

I'm not sure how long you've been following along but we have a bit of a pattern here…kinda sorta. Monday is Vegas (the day we report any 'cheats, flops, fails' and support each other….but only if you want to do so…this is why you'll see references from us like "I hit Vegas hard today". Tuesday is Two Cent Tuesday….the day I'm generally posting some kind of rant on any subject matter, read, skip over or print off and use for bird cage liners :))). Wednesday is Workout Wednesday ….no explanation needed. Thursday is Tutorial day….an info post about health/food related issues. Friday is Foodie Friday, obvious again…that said don't let me give you the impression that we have any 'rules'…..anyone can post at any time about anything (we love to chatter)….so feel free! Again, welcome and looking forward to getting to know you better! Cheers!

Vampriella - The grass fed gelatin is Great Lakes brand.....get it on amazon (I did), hard to find here, and when you do it's pricey. The same brand also carries grass fed collagen powder. Here is the link to the gelatin:

TWO CENT TUESDAY – BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!

    image

(A while back I wrote a 2 cent post regarding Whole30's ridiculous & hypocritical 'SWYPO' mantra (if you missed it and want to check it out…page 28 of our thread, Two Cent Tuesday – Drop your drawers, but don't enjoy it!! ) From WHOLE30 - SWYPO = Sex With Your Pants On (compliant food mixed together to make 'modern' dishes…not allowed and not enjoyable, according to Whole30 folks….I call bullpuckies!!!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh……….Egads got her hackles up agaaaaaaain!!! Well kids, I came across this very same "SWYPO' attitude from a PALEO FOLLOWER (gasp!) in a community form. The member wrote the following in response to a pancake recipe that had been posted….

"Yes the ingredients are all Paleo, but if you think Paleolithic man made pancakes for breakfast then you are very mistaken. Paleo people didn't eat that way and wouldn't have known how to grind flour. They wouldn't have carried grinding stones around on their backs would they? Thank you for posting your recipe, but it is not Paleo and wouldn't advise anyone make them!"

Taking coconut, water, an egg and mixing it up and putting it over fire means you're not Paleo ??

Just a second, did I read that right? Was it a Paleo peep that wrote that? Yes, I did & yes it was…..hang the hell on a minute!!

Ain't nothing like an imperialistic attitude to raise my dander! While I have a Whole30 SWYPO flashback, Let's cover the facts first:

The fact is, Paleolithic grinding stones HAVE been discovered......

    image

......and scientists theorize that they were left in caches in the hunter/gatherer's stomping grounds….where 'grindable' items were plentiful during the various seasons. Some of those examples look extremely portable IMHO....and to a people used to lifting heavy things, this would be childs play. Grinding nuts, plants, bones or even wheat in the later period DID exist. Tool making came into play thousands of years before.Decorative clothing was there too….I wonder if they'll ever uncover a Sephora?!? :))))

Man did not wake up New Year's day 9,999 BC and say 'ok, enough of this Paleo crap!! Let's build homes, take up farming andgrind up that grass seed to make loaves of bread!"It was a slow and subtle transition, from hunting to farming and eventual settlement that passed from generation to generation. AS MAN DOES TO THIS DAY!! So it is possible that the later Paleo Grok was flipping flapjacks for the kiddies on Sunday mornings. Dollars to pancakes he was! If he was using nut flour, all the better!

How does a person come to this condescending snot-bag type of attitude? Some people suck by 6 degrees? Yup.

I wonder if Mr. Paleo in the forum has a furnace….central AC….electricity….a lawnmover? I wonder if he shoots his dinner down every day, skins and field dresses it before bringing it home to his family to munch on? Does he own a stove? Microwave? When his wife was carrying his kiddies did she seek out prenatal care….give birth in a hospital? Has the family ever been on antibiotics?Did they watch all the seasons of the Walking Dead? Subscribe to Netflix? Drive to work? Check into a hotel…..after flying to his destination?

You bet your sweet bippy he did and does!! What the 'gentleman' in that forum is neglecting to see (besides his own poopy attitude) is that he is as close to being truly Palaeolithic as Hitler was to being a philanthropist!

We are NOT Cavemen/women….and thank your lucky stars we're not ! We'd have a 55% infant mortality rate and average 25 year life expectancy, injury being the leading cause of death, no healthcare to speak of, cancer treatment, etc….ad infinitum! If our ancient ancestors had been offered one of those pancakes the lady posted he recipe for, do you think they'd have turned it down??? I personally cherish the comforts that my age in time brings….yeah, who could live without Netflix and I'm overjoyed my gym's cardio doesn't include running from a hungry lion!I'm grateful to live the Paleo lifestyle, but I'm not fooling myself into thinking that I come ANYWHERE near what our ancient ancestors dealt with and without. We've come a long way baby…..celebrate it while taking a cue from their healthy eating/'exercise' methods…..and not taking up the SWYPO attitude….it's simply ridiculous!

As for Mister Man on the forum….well, I guess Egads has had her rude awakening. My almost 4 years Paleo has never seen such an obnoxious attitude from one Paleo Peep to another. I've only ever encountered patient, helpful and accepting folks….and I suppose my surprise has my naivety on public display. It takes all kinds and I suppose the putzy folks of this world makes it spin….I just wish he hadn't been so condescending…..the lady was embarrassed for no good reason. I can't help but feel a parting shot of 'Holy23shadesofrudeBatman!! you may think you're Paleo, but Neandrathal would be a more apt description of your approach!'……lol….nothing gets a Paleo's goat faster than being called a Neandrathal! No, I didn't submit that comment….but I'd like to!!!

So what say y'all…….anyone get any 'attitude' about your eating (no matter your regime)? Have your lifestyle put down in a rude way? Found the putzy peeps rudeness unbearable?

    Who wants pancakes? :))))))
