I would like to ask you for any suggestion or advice. My mother has just undergone radical mastectomy, she is 77 years old. without one kidney, with hypertension.

She had in total four tumors ranging from 4.5-1.1cm (I know it is not good). As for histopathology: Her 2 negative, estrogen /progest. 90%, ki67 16%.

surgeon removed 20 nodes, there was only one with a tumor in it, others clean, however they confirmed big vascular invasion next to a tumor.

in the end she was classified as stage 3b (T4, N1a). She was offered radiation and aromatase please tell me if it is enough in that situation? Maybe you share some experience. What are the prognosis in such a case? I will appreciate any message as I feel totally lost.

(forgive me any mistakes as I'm not English).

Yes it sounds about right. AI drugs are pretty effective for hormone positive people. The radiation could help with any local recurrence.

Indeed this sounds like the doctor's recommendations are good. If you feel it important, we always suggest a second opinion to help you feel more comfortable.

Hi Beata (Czesc ? - zgaduje ze Beatka to polka...) Your English is very good.

If you want to check prognosis, you can try entering it into the Predict calculator. http://www.predict.nhs.uk/predict_v2.0.html

    & the lifemath calculator http://www.lifemath.net/cancer/breastcancer/therap...

I think the only other possible treatment would be chemotherapy and the physicians have to evaluate the patients' ability to withstand it based on their overall health. At an advanced age with health comorbidities, chemo may well be way too risky for what it might achieve.

It's good news your mom's cancer is strongly estrogen & progesterone positive as the aromatase inhibitor will be effective.

As far as other things to reduce risk of recurrence, as much as possible your mom should be physically active once she's recovered from surgery. Regular aerobic exercise reduces risk of recurrence. Maintaining good body weight, eating mostly plant based diet & eliminating alcohol are also often recommended. Best wishes.

I really appreciate your response, and the links you sent me, as for my nationality yes I'm Polish (from Cracow), I can see from your post that you know Polish as well :)

The thing that worries me most is that dreadful possibiity of developing metastasis, my Mum does not have any at this moment (at least they have not been confirmed and I wish it will never ever change), but that dreadful feeling is always with you, you know it perhaps better than anyone else. As for chemo doctors were considering it however in the end decided that hormonotherapy with radiation should do the job, it was my impression that if my Mum was younger they would opt for it, that is why I still have some lingering doubts whether it was good decision or not. Your post reassured me that everything should be fine . Of course I wish you all the best and may never this awaful thing will even try to come close to you :)
