Skin thinning after fills

Hi all,

Currently in reconstruction with a tissue expander. We approached conservatively with the fills but I have recently started to see issues with the quality of the skin. It is very thin, like translucent thin, and has a shine to it. Some areas are white, in thicker strips. I don’t think they are stretch marks since those turn pink for me whenever I get them before going white way down the line. Either way, I am extremely worried about how it will look after the implant and if it will return to normal. The skin quality is really important to me, even if it takes a few years to recover.

My doctor assures me that the skin is an organ and will return to normal thickness and texture after relaxation of the skin. Ive also done some background research and there are numerous academic articles that talk about the dermis and subcutaneous tissue initially thinning significantly after expansion but then recovering to normal after 2 years. I am curious if anyone out there who has been in a similar positions can confirm this?? It would be very helpful for my outlook to know that there is at least hope my skin won't be always this way.

Thanks in advance

    HI Rorymac

My sister has this problem thin skin and has lost her implant to infection. They will try again with expander but the thin skin is a worry.

It is encouraging to read that the skin will return to normal thickness and texture .........fingers crossed!

How did you finally make out ? Hope it all went well for you.
