Had my first infusion yesterday: taxol and herceptin. They had told me many times that they didn't believe the drugs would have an effect on my Crohn's and they were wrong. So it will only get worse from here on out jut as side effects increase. I'm not sure how I'm gonna get thru this. I usually tAke steroids and pain killers for a certain amount of time and now it seems I may be stuck on them for the duration of treatment (roughly 1 year and 2 months). Had anybody else experienced this? Just curious, I'll be in touch with both GI and oncologist. I'm just looking to hear others experiences with it; some bowel disease people sick as myself.

I am hoping NOT cancer again..having biopsy next week.. but I will never accept doing chemo..because of the crohns disease.. my advice it only have surgery for crohns if absoluetly necessary.. good luck to U.. ~Hope

I was diagnosed with IBS in my 20s. They didn't have a clue what was wrong. It took 10 years to get better. So when they wanted me to do AC and Taxol at age 53, I said no. The crippling diarrhea I suffered from about 26 to 36 years old really impacted my life. I was 34 when my 1st son was born it seemed to get better 37 when I had my youngest son and it slowly disappeared. Every once in a while something triggers it but only lasts a couple hours.

I never ever want to experience that IBS again, I'd rather take my chances with recurrence.

@hopedreams, so sorry! Chemo brain. I have HER2+ left breast, also full of DCIS. HER2+ I’m unsure of stage.

My situation was more unique due to pathology. I had all major signs of BC including bleeding from the nipple. BIRADS 4 on all tests but damn pathology did not match up to the cancer we weee seeing on screen. It wasn’t until I demanded the DMX that they found me to be full of it in my left breast at pathology. Then I had to have sentinel node and chemo port surgery. Now I’m on chemo. I guess they don’t mess around with HER2+. Chemo and Herceptin until August and then continue Herceptin until summer of 2019.

I have begged for surgery for Crohns!!!! This time I might get my way after chemo because of the impact of this treatment

I think treatment is much better for crohn's disease that it was 30 years ago. I was so frustrated that they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They said it was in my head. Wonder why I don't trust medical profession.
