Lump on chest wall - double mastectomy 2007

Options

Hi,

Today I meet with my former breast surgeon's NP. I had a double mastectomy in 2007/8 (one breast at a time) - DCIS. All well.

A few months ago I felt a very small (about .5mm) "bump" on my chest wall - just below my scar, more to the middle of my chest. I did not think too much of it but it has gotten a bit bigger (palpable, about 1 mm). When I call my breast surgeon's office, they said that former patients are seen by her nurse practitioner. I have an appointment this afternoon. Can you think of any questions that I need to ask, that I might have not thought of? I am not terribly worried - but yes, concerned.

Hi Alwaysamom and welcome to Breastcancer.org!

We're so sorry you haven't received any responses yet, but we hope you'll get some soon to help you feel better about what you're experiencing. Could it be scar tissue you're feeling?

Please keep us posted after your appointment what your NP says. We're all sending good thoughts your way!

Alwaysamom, I hope your appointment went OK. You simply need to ask what she thinks. I have a 'spot' on my chest which grew a bit but turned out to be left-over fat. As I gained weight it got bigger.

But they did an ultrasound just to be sure. I hope they are doing the same for you.

Just reading this now; have been away from my computer for a bit. I would ask for imaging of some type...maybe an ultrasound, so they can visualize what you feel. How did your appointment go?
