Risk of 9.0 earthquake in Puget Sound

I just saw on the news that there is a 17% risk of a devastating 9.0 earthquake in th Seattle area in the next 50 years. I immediately thought, gee that is about the same as my risk of a recurrence of breast cancer.

Well, I had a 55% chance of cancer occurring in my cancer free breast in the next 5 years. So I have 3 times the risk in 1/10th the time and I live in the Seattle area. Thanks for the post - I'm going to get a drink.
