Well, I'm back..

So after nearly six successful years, tamoxifen failed me. I broke my arm and it turns out bone Mets had weakened the bone, causing it to break. Further scans showed extensive bone mets, a pleural effusion and liver Mets that "almost completely replace the outer surface of the liver." My surgeon's eloquent words when he delivered the news to me as I was lying on the operating table already prepped for surgery were "it's everywhere." My onc is far more optimistic. He immediately started me on letrozole, to which I saw some immediate improvement. I can breathe better and my urine became normal color again. He also started xgeva and two weeks later, verzenio. A couple of things I was hoping someone would have some insight into - - after starting the verzenio, my urine became darker again. Is that normal? Also I'm having a terrible time with nausea and diarrhea on the verzenio and the weight is dropping off at a crazy speed. Any suggestions??

Lana, It's been awhile. Sorry that you are facing this progression. I don't have any info on verzenio but want you to know I'm thinking of you. I switched to Letrozole from Tamoxifen 2 1/2 yrs ago after slight progression and it has been working! Sonya

Lana, I was on Verzenio for a short spell. Yes, my urine also became dark. I tried to drink more water and it helped some. The diarrhea is also common as almost half of the people have that side effect. Make sure your oncologist does blood work every two weeks for two months to check your wbc and liver enzymes. There is a separate thread for verzenio, so you can check there too.
