Hi ladies.. how many of you have textured anatomical implants and how many have smooth??? My exchange surgery is in 4 days, I am sick with the flu and after the doc said that the textured implants have been linked to lymphoma I am at a loss. Please tell me your procedure and experiences .. Any shifting with smooth eg or anyone out there get BIA ALCL ??? Much love and gratitude! x

Hi Gracem1 - the research on that type of lymphoma is relatively new. There is about 1 in 300000 (i think that is the most recent number) chance of developing that lymphoma from breast implants and anyone who has implants has the chance - smooth or textured....however there is a greater association with textured but to my knowledge 100% causation has not been established. I have smooth round and I, like you, was very worried about it as well......HOWEVER - not many others are...and my plastic surgeon told me "not to worry" - however after our convo he did go back and read the recent research because he and I had different numbers and talking points.

I know many women who do not even know about the lymphoma and have implants....I think you have to decide --> implants or not and then make the best decision you can with what you know. There is a risk for this lymphoma and gosh there is risk for other cancers because we all have been diagnosed with one cancer....well I had two cancers at once and I could get another...and yeah the implants increase my risk for another one too....so I choose to breathe, get to the next day, and keep moving.... I am not sure if this helped or not...but many women years out have had no complications with their implants. I am hoping I am one of them in 10 years and I hope you are too!!

that is what my PS said too.

Something like 549 cases of lymphoma reported using the textured implants. He could read it on my face. There was no way I wanted those in me. So smooth I got.

It's been 3 days since my exchange. So far so good. But I'll keep u posted. My non effected side looks perfect. My side that had cancer is kinda wonky but I'm being very cri
