Cisplatin and Hearing Loss

Has any been on Cispatin and experience issues with there hearing?

I have had one dose, a week ago, and my ears feel weird and have a little ringing. TBH I felt they might have been a little blocked before I started - but I didnt have the time to clear before taking my first dose. I'm putting tiny drops of oil in to see if this helps. My MO and other sources of info about the drugs say it may cause hearing loss.

Would love to hear form anyone and what they might have done with this pesky side effect.

    Sarah,

    I haven't taken it but did meet several women at last year's MBC conference with hearing loss from Cisplatin. Unfortunately, I think it is pretty common. I hope you are spared.

    JFL::I had thought it might be common to. I had read it was particularly so for children taking it (for other cancers) which makes me so sad. At 58 I've had a long run and with a family history of loss of hearing through age it's something I always thought was in my future. I'm going to continue to try to keep my ears as clear as I can of wax so that I can hear as much as I can.
