Hi,

Background:

My wife has gone through a BC journey since she was diagnosed in Dec. 2016.The start of 2017 was rough since she had been already been on medication (Fibrisital) for a couple months to reduce the size of a Uterine fibroid that was discovered early fall of 2016. Regarding the BC journey.

She had gone through a full mastectomy after a series of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments for much of the year which she is now in remission while taking tamoxifen for the next 5 years, in which 9 months have been put to bed. With the discovery of her BC in Dec. 2016 she was advised by onco. not to continue medication (fibrisital) for the fibroid until her mastectomy was dealt with. Fast forward she has been back on it for several months with her breast reconstruction surgery/treatments scheduled to begin end of this month.. With her recent visit to the gyno after being back on Fibrisital she was told that the fibroid is still large in size and that a surgery to remove the fibroid (inside the uterus) should be done right after her reconstruction.

Concern:

We have had great doctors all around but now she is now worried that the gyno appeared to have rushed the visit and concluded that removal of this should be done sometime after her actual surgery for reconstruction. As for her onco., he has been great and of course with the BC treatments out of the way we see him only a few times now. All throughout the BC journey, the oncologist was not concerned about the fibroid and said to deal with it after. Now that after has come he had mentioned during a recent visit that looking into a hysterectomy which is not what we look to do as an option. This is another topic but we want to have kids and b) she also has a genetics doctor we see regarding a mutated gene diagnosis (LFS) in which there are higher risks of getting cancer throughout other parts of the body including ovarian which is not of a first concern.

Thank you.
