Waiting on core biopsy results

I'm a 32 year old male with a significant family history of breast cancer, most of the women in my family, uncertain of the men. I went to my doctor for an abscess/infection. He gave me some antibiotics, looking at my nipple which was the problem. He seemed a little concerned, asked a couple questions and took a picture. He told me that I should take the antibiotics and if it didn't improve, he'd like to do a "core biopsy." I agreed. This was Thursday. The very next day, Friday, I was called back and they said I needed to come in Saturday for a biopsy, which made me nervous. I went in, and the doctor brought in a nurse practitioner as well. I was informed they were concerned it was Paget Disease. I was given minimal information and told it could take up to 2 weeks for results. I am pretty freaked out. I have only told a couple close friends. I have a lot on my plate already. I am in my final's week for the end of my first year of nursing school, I run a drywall company and I'm a volunteer fire lieutenant. I'm single and my parents are older and I'm afraid to tell them anything until I have results. It could be nothing, but I'm struggling to focus on my day to day responsibilities and anything.

    Hey Greg,

As most members here will tell you, the waiting is the worst part of the process, horrid. It is good to see you're being fast tracked, sounds like you have a good & concerned doctor....always a great thing. As you've probably read on the boards the vast majority of findings are benign. Your age and the fact that you're male increases those stats. All I can suggest while waiting is to keep busy and try to keep the stats in mind when the dark thoughts creep in. Work is your friend right now so lean on it, as well as your friends and the members here. sending positives for good biopsy results. Keep us posted!

Edited to say: there is a section dedicated to men on the boards, but of course you're always welcomed on any board here. If you're interested here is the link:

sorry you are in this position Greg. Waiting for results is the absolute worst, but the ladies here are so wonderful and supportive! I just had my biopsy this am and, if it wasn’t for them up to this point, I think I would be so much more stressed. It’s a great place to just release and talk to others who are going through the same thing. Hang in there. I hope you get good news soon!
