Lump ~ Is it scar tissue?

Hi,

In October 2016 I had a lumpectomy. Results were negative, no cancer found. The breast is dense, at that time, Dr advised it was an area to continue to monitor.

Last week I located a small pea sized lump in the same breast as the lumpectomy was performed. The lump is in the area of the incision. Coincidentally I had a mammogram scheduled last week as well and I pointed the lump out to the tech who told me to stop at the breast health clinic on my way out of the hospital to make an appointment to see a Dr there as they would want to do an exam and schedule an ultrasound.

Curious ... has anyone who has had breast surgery experienced this? Will the mammogram indicate if the lump is scar tissue or something suspicious? Have you had scar tissue or a malignancy after a lumpectomy in the area of the incision?

Thank you to all who read and reply.

I found a small lump last November. I had BMX in 2016 and this lump was on the non-cancerous side. I was pretty nervous, but they did a US and found it to be just a lump off fat. Hope yours goes as well.

    Thank you for replying 🙂

I have read a lot and it seems in most cases it isn't anything to be concerned about. I'm not overly worried, mostly curious.

I'm feeling confident it's scar tissue or fat deposit.

    Take care
