Breastfeeding found a lump

Hello-

I am 34 almost 35 and am just about 2 weeks postpartum with my first baby. About four years ago I had a litany of testing done due to some lumps that ended up being nothing. Now I have noticed that since my milk came in a week ago I have a lump that’s at least doubled in size! I’m really scared. It feels rubbery but I can’t tell anything else other than when my milk fills I can feel it right through my skin. I’m terrified it’s advanced cancer.

I have my two week post op for my c section on Tuesday so I’ll mention it to my OB but I don’t know if this is typical for breast changes during lactating or if I should start to prepare myself. I’m sorry I’m a mess. The lump doesn’t hurt which I know I’ve read is never good.

Let's slow down and not go to advanced cancer...try to distract yourself (I'm sure that's not hard with a new baby:) Did you say that you had a history of benign breast lumps a few years ago?

I'm very close to your age, and have a history of benign breast lumps over the last few years. I actually have another lump I'm getting checked out.. Definitely mention it to your OB, but try not to let it worry you. I realize that is much easier said than done. Let us know how the appointment goes..we are here for you:)

hopefully it’s benign or a milk duct or something. But I was diagnosed with BC in my third trimester, so I’m glad you’ve got a plan to talk to your doctor. The more likely scenario is something benign. Best wishes.

nicomari, one breast was more tender than the other. When I pressed,I felt a lump. I went to the ob who found several and sent me for an u/s. I’m doing ok, as is the baby. I’ve been through surgery and chemo. Radiation is ahead.
