Would a PET Scan show if there was problems with the ovaries? One of the cysts on an ovary have grown about 1cm in the past year. It's not referenced in that Scan although it shows in a CT Scan with Contrast the same day. The report terms it as "Large" at 3.6cm.

PET scans pick up areas with high blood glucose uptake often referred to as “hot spots”. Cancer cells use a lot of glucose to replicate and survive. The cyst may show on a PET scan in the overall outline of the ovaries and their normal range glucose uptakebut unless it’s cancerous, likely won’t show up as a hot spot.

My PET scan picked up a cyst. I don't know how they tell the difference but they knew it was a cyst and not Cancer.
