Swollen lymph node in ankle..any ideas?

Options

I noticed a small hard movable lump at the front of my ankle a couple of days ago. I assume it is a swollen lymph node. I'm not aware of having any infection. Has anyone any idea what might cause this and if I should get it checked?

    Hi Grainne,

Just read yr post, def best to check it out but if It's of any help I am pretty sure the oestrogen inhibitors (including Tamox, Arimidex etc) play a part in swollen lymph nodes. I developed a cluster of them on my chest wall when I was taking tamoxifen, there has to be a connection, I still have them now but stopped taking the tamox.

Hope someone else can clarify and reassure you too! All the best! X

Thanks for that, Bonnie. It seems an unusual place to have a swollen node. I do a lot of exercise and wonder if it might be a small cyst.

Definitely get it checked. It could be a cyst, and anything as small as an ingrown hair, a blister, or a hangnail can cause lymph nodes to swell.

Thanks, keep. I do have bursitis in my elbow at the minute. I'm not sure if that counts as an infection and it is very far away from my ankle!
