Hello,

I have been experiencing sharp pain for over a month in my left breast. The pain comes and goes, but just about anything sets it off. The slightest of pressure creates pain that takes my breath away - while sleeping if I happen to roll onto that side, I wake up in horrible pain; carrying books at work; brushing against something; water in the shower; even crossing my arms gives me so much pain I want to cry. It's definitely not symptomatic with my cycle. The pain is getting worse daily. I have an appointment tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get answers, but am finding myself more and more worried. I noticed the other day my breast looked swollen and even had a purplish hue. That has gone away at the moment. I'm concerned, but after reading so many posts/articles that breast cancer doesn't normally come with pain, I'm at even more of a loss. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Krodine! Google can be our friend and enemy! I want to write to you because as you search the web for info you'll find that a lot of women did have breast pain with their cancer. I am one of them. But I'm telling you because my pain was not how you described so hopefully this is comforting . First...i had a lump. But even before really finding that lump I was super tender where my bra underwire was. It was achy to touch etc. It got worse and once I felt a lump I ran to the Dr! It was not a sharp pain, didn't get worse with movement etc. I did not have any discoloration. It could be anything. My advice is to try to relax (I hated when people told me that lol) but go see your doctor. Insist on an ultrasound or mammogram. Better safe than sorry. Sending you positive vibes! Xo
