I'm having a diagnostic ultrasound and mammogram tomorrow for a pretty large lump at the bottom of my right breast. Five years ago I had a lump removed that was benign. The pathology actually came back as normal breast tissue. This bothered me because it kept growing and my former family doctor kept insisting it was scar tissue. I asked for another ultrasound because the original lump was not visible on mammogram due to dense breasts. (I was 39, now 44 and have been in full menopause for 2 years) He only got me a mammogram which was clear. Over the next two years I asked him a number of times to and check because it seemed bigger and each time he said it was just scar tissue.

Fast forward to this year and a new female family doc. I've been feeling terrible since September. Constant nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath as well as periods where I feel almost like I have narcolepsy. I put this off as new symptoms of chronic migraines. In January I my liver enzymes became quite high and my complement 3 showed inflammation in my body somewhere so I was sent to a GI for scopes...negative, must be IBS and fatty liver, and I was told probably the cause of my rib pain/upper abdomen, so lower doses of tylenol and should improve. Doc tells me Complement 3 can be a sign of cancer somewhere, but where?

I also have one armpit that has an odd smell and swelling, but only one side, I've never heard of that.

Then in February my hip started causing a lot of issues. Doc gave me stretching exercises to do. 6 weeks later it was worse. I hadn't really checked for lumps in awhile because my old doc made me feel paranoid, but in mid march It began to hurt and I was shocked to feel how big it had grown. So here I am now. I am worried these symptoms might fit together and that there is a chance the original lump may have been missed.

Last time it took 6 months from finding the lump to final diagnosis. I live in a small town and pathology takes 4-6 weeks here. This time if there is a need for biopsy I want to travel to a rapid diagnosis clinic in Toronto.

Really hoping they find scar tissue that grew. Has anyone ever had a false negative only to find out it was missed later?
