Good morning!!! So just as a background: I’m 36 hispanic with a really crazy 4 year old daughter...

I had a week ago a diagnostic mammo because my left breast was painful... soooo they found a suspicious mass in the other one, in my right one :/ They made more images through mammo and then they sent me for an ultrasound... The results are this:

The birads was 4b and said specifically:

In the 1:00 position there is a 17mm lobulated area with decreased echogenicity. This demostrated posterior shadowing with somewhat irregular lobulated margins. The apareance is suspicious for a small mass. The finding is suspicious for a small neoplasm and is recommended a biopsy

The remainder of the right breast is within the normal limits, no other dominant masses observed. No cystic structures observed. No architectural distorsion is demostrated.

Impression:

BIRADS 4B Intermediate suspicion for malignancy, bx recommended

Follow up: Biopsy

As you all know this is a really nerve racking moment and my doctor was out of town so it was more than a week to even get thebiopsy order... now I’m beyond scare :( Still waiting until thursday for bx and then a long weekend of more waiting!!! I need to distract myself in some way... this is so difficult!!!

Thank you for listening this beyond worried mom!!!

I think we can all relate to your situation. Nothing strikes fear in our hearts quite like a lump in the breast. The good news is that BIRADs4 has about an 80% chance of being BENIGN. BIRADS 4a is slightly more likely to be benign, BIRADs 4c is slightly less likely to be benign. BIRADS 4b is an intermediate risk.

Waiting is truly horrible! Last year it was a total of 3 months from my first mammo to finally a surgical excision with different appts and biopsies in between. I have no magic answer for you! Some days Just working and staying busy was enough, other days I needed wine, or Xanax, or binge tv. Sometimes I needed to allow myself to just panic a little, google things I shouldn’t and almost get born out of my system. I’m going throigh the procession again now, and it’s a little easier this time. Breathe! And hang in the there
