hello everyone I have a question how does chemo make you feel as far working having to start treatments also does smoking cigarettes make the matters worse any advice is helpful also thanks for being very supportive

Hi Michelle, I took a leave during treatment as I was lucky enough to have a wonderful benefit package, so I can’t help you there...you’ll get a bunch of replies on work during treatment, as lots of members here worked through it.

As for cigarettes, well they don’t help ANYTHING, as I’m sure you know. I had my last smoke 10 minutes before my first chemo. I can tell you that I think the chemo helped make quitting easier as I felt slightly tranquillized throughout the process. Kinda like I was mildly high. I would imagine that lightning up after could make you pretty nauseous considering some chemo mixes do that already.

I’m not going to preach quitting to you, as a former smoker I know how annoying that is. It’s something you have to come to yourself. I will say that if there ever was a time to quit, that time is now. Like starting a whole new chapter. A whole healthier and stronger you, that isif you’re interested in quitting.

I worked through treatment taking chemo day (Friday) and Monday off. I had TC and was never sick. I got fatigued but just learned to pace myself
