Let me start by saying I'm not sure why I'm writing, rather I unconsciously need support, am looking for someone in similar situations or what, none the less here I am.

Back in November my mom found a lump. She didn't really say much or complain just that she had found a lump and it bothered her some. Fast forward to January, and she went and had a mammogram ( she is 48 and probabaly hasn't been to the doctor since I was born 22 years ago) so this was her first mammogram. She was told to not mention the lump during the initial mammogram. She didn't and it turned out the mammogram came back negative. It did note however she had extremely dense breast. Fast forward again to March, she still felt uneasy and so she decided to see a family NP. She requested that my mother had additional screenings as it was very prominent a lump was present. This lump is hard, the size of my index middle and ring finger when placed together( in width as well as length), so it is large, and causes no pain unless touched. She went for her second mammogram and sonogram in which she was told the lump would be considered a strong 4 if not a 5. She was also told no matter what it is, it would need to be removed because of its size. The radiologist had no more information except it was good signs that she had no redness, nipple changes, or sweeping. He made no mention of how it looked on the sonogram, just that it needed to be biopsyed, and then removed regardless of rather it was cancer or not. Like I said I'm not sure why I am sharing, maybe I just needed to talk but there is where she is at. And I am, I am just trying to figure this all out one step at a time( or maybe a 1047393 goggle searchers that help me none lol)

And that's exactly what you can do for your mom, just hang around and let her know you're there for her. It's hopefully a benign lump. If it's cancerous, hopefully, worst case, the MOST common and curable breast cancer.
