Rejected from Study -- Onto External Radiation

Options

After surviving uterine cancer, my mom is now dealing with breast cancer. We are stage IA, Grade 1, for which I am, of course, grateful, having lost my father to Stage IV Lung Cancer.

With my mom getting breast cancer so close to after she had the uterine cancer, I am scared for her to get radiation treatment again. And scared it'll cause yet another cancer to pop-up. Though the radiologist has repeatedly said the radiation (from the uterine cancer) couldn't have caused it so soon after.

She did not qualify for a Cyberknife Radiation Trial, and will have to get external beam radiation. Then, will have to go to hormone therapy. Pretty standard fair. I guess my question is...does anyone else know of any other kind of targeted radiation out there for breast cancer? The external radiation seems so invasive and intense, and I worry about the side effects and outcome. Is it our best option?
