hi ladies ive only just recently joined. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in feb 18 while also being six wks pregnant. My core biopsy results were i had an er+ breast tumor grade 2. I underwent mastectomy in early march as i could not have radiotherapy. My breast surgeon has been super positive with me, and told me it was a 2cm tumor removed totality with no nodes involved. However instead of grade 2 it was now deemed a grade 3. I went to see my oncologist last wk and i will begin six sessions of chemo in my second trimester. Followed by radiotherapy and hormonal treatment once baby arrives! I'm so anxious regarding chemo! I know this will be a very difficult time. I'm also v worried about reoccurence, as my oncologist said my tumor had been close to the chest wall with only a 1mm clearance of normal tissue margin. He told me i was in the intermediate to higher range for reoccurence! This just made me feel completely defeated before i even begin treatment. I worry all the time if i will be here to raise my kids i have 3 others all under 5.

    Hi Kate,

Welcome, and I am so sorry about your diagnosis. I am not sure what to say, but wanted to respond. One thing I will say is, if you are pregnant with three others under 5, you must be physically and psychologically strong! I have to remind myself every day, especially now that I am done with chemo, hair’s growing back, etc., think about what is happening right now, not the possibility of recurrence.

Best wishes, and I hope you get what you need from this community. It has been a huge help to me. I go to young survivors coalition meetings, and they are great as well.

    L.
