duct excision waiting on results

waiting sucks! had a duct excision yesterday, the procedure it self wasnt bad worst part was not eating all day now the hard part doc said it would be 3-5 days from monday before i have any results. I thought in the office he'd be able to tell if it was a papilloma or not but after the surgery he said we have to wait - i haven't been overly worried but that makes me worry. has anyone had a duct excision and been told the same day that it was a papilloma or not ?

You don't get results from a surgical (or needle) biopsy until the tissue has been sent to the pathology lab, prepared and analyzed. The surgeon can't tell by "looking."

ahh thanks, i swear he had said he would know but i must have mis heard and he said he would not, phew. thanks for the reassurance

still waiting... hoping the wait is the worst part. also hoping i dont have to go another weekend with out results, why do results have to take so long? im not saying i need instant results but 24-48 hours would be a lot better than 3-5 business days with a weekend in between ahhhh

Hi Josephine - yes the waiting is THE WORST part. I know it’s frustrating but 3-5 days is pretty standard. I always feel that I want to know instantly. No matter how far out I get I’ve never mastered waiting...it sucks! Try to keep busy doing things you love, treat yourself to something special, and promise yourself at least an hour a day to shove the dark thoughts out of your mind completely.....let it be your time!
