Hi everyone, I been reading this forum for about couple of months now. I have found it very informational and comforting. After my diagnosis of breast cancer at 32 I wanted to shed some light and spread the word on how it is being young and being diagnosed with Cancer.

I found a lump on my right breast. Went to check it out, was told not to worry about it as I was too young to have breast cancer. Went to get it checked up again and was sent to the breast cancer centre where I had to get another ultrasound and mammogram done (The first ultrasound went bad) Got through those and was told to go back for a biopsy. After my test we're inconclusive (dcis) by my pathologist I was given the option of mastectomy or lumpectomy. Indeed it was cancer but they didn't have enough evidence as to what type of anything as the test did not come back clear. My lump did not feel normal in size so I went with the mastectomy. Had my surgery, recovered quite quickly and was back to the pathologist where again I was told I may or may not need chemo. They did however find a lymph node out of 5 that had cancer which was about smaller than a millimeter. 2 weeks later I'm at the oncologist office where I was given a proper diagnosis ofearly stage 2 cancer. ER/PR neg Her2 positive. A lot for one young person to wraps her head around.

Currently now I am awaiting my chemo to start next week. Had to get a port a catch inserted as my viens are too small. I will be going through with TCH. 4 rounds of chemo and one year of hercepton.

As a young women going through this I just want to give some advice on anyone who is facing the same thing... this is not the end of anything. The outcome will be better then the beginning and you will get through it. If you have been diagnosed I'm sorry.. and welcome to the club. You will find much more to live for and be stronger for when all this is done. It's not easy but it's also not the end either.

In the beginning I was terrified at the thought of having BC. I was in a depression but that only brought me down and made me worse. After hearing the actual diagnosis made a world of difference. Yes. It is scary but we all get through it because we are women, strong women. the strongest there is out there and just to let anyone who is going through it as well, you are not alone. There are many women going through the same struggles you are going facing. I hope you find comfort if you are reading this.

The first initial thought will scare you. All the procedures you will have to go through... suck! But find comfort that not all diagnosis are the same. Most lumps are found not cancerous. The worst part is going through the diagnosis stage. After you get through that part the rest will be better. It's the, what ifs and how's that get in your heads. The worst thing to do is google so, please try too stay away from google.

Also here my diagnosis was EP/PR - HER2 positive . Early stage 2 1/5 lymph nodes less than a millimeter.

Hi Ada85 - Another Toronto girl! I was treated at North York Hospital Breast Clinic. Everything you posted was true. Once we get a diagnosis and treatment plan we feel so much more ready to fight it...Young or older. All the waiting is the worst part. At least that was my experience. I’m sure your story will help the newly diagnosed feel more comfort. Thank you for posting! Let’s cross our fingers that Toronto sees an end to winter soon

Ada, So sorry you're having to deal with all of this ! I hope all your treatments will be "event free".Thankfully, we live in a time when we have a lot available. I was treated at MPH, so please if you have any questions that I can help with - just ask. I'll be thinking of you and hoping your doing well....

Thank you all so much for the replies and kind words. I tell you it’s comforting knowing I’m not going through this alone and many have survived it. I felt very nervous about chemo but reading this forum and replies really helps. Knowing that there are people in the same area is comforting also. It’s hard with all the appointments to meet new people who share the same or are facing the same diagnosis. I’m being treated in newmarket at Southlake regional there’s not much of any young women there, women in general so this forum really great. Im happy to share my journey and what i have gone through so far. I will keep you all posted next week thank you once again.

And please feel free to share your experience I would love to hear them.

Just wanted to thank you all for your replies.

Chemo went great and I will be on other topics as when I posted here I didn’t realize it was for newly diagnosed or ones who haven’t been diagnosed yet.

Thanks for your post! Being 26 I didnt think about breast cancer but since I found lump (or what I think is a lump) I'm scared. I hear its prob nothing, dont worry about it your so young but...what if it is a lump? I have an appointment on the 8th of May.
