waiting on results for excision biopsy
I had surgery on 3/30. My post op is on 4/5. Took off the bandage today to shower / change and I'm more upset at my incision right now than any possible results. It's about 2 inches long, on the outside of my breast but doesn't go along the curve of my breast. It's horizontal. I feel disfigured and dumb because there could be more wrong but I'm crying about looking hideous

Glitz, your scar probably does look bad now, but like all scars it will fade. After you get your results and get all healed up, just visit a good dermatologist for a scar fading cream. You'll be fine.
For now, please follow your doctors' orders and wearing a sports bra (with some gauze packed in there) might help minimize scarring too. Best wishes for good results.

Thanks. I have been wearing sports bras.

Hugs glitz! I felt the same way when I first saw my scar. Mine isn't horizontal, but it's a good 2" long and not on the curve of the breast. It's been over 5 weeks, and mine is still slightly red...debating contacting my BS to see if need to come back in.

In 2016 I had surgery on my thyroid and had a large incision right across my neck - it's almost invisible now & I'm not even a good healer: my skin tends to scar even from small scratches in the garden etc. Massaging my incision and using some of the dermatological scar cremes & tapes really helped.
Maybe have a look at these instructions and when you go for your follow up, ask your BS if you can start some gentle massage of the incision.

I know it is disappointing to not have things look the way you want. Do remember that the surgeon's goal is to make sure you are cancer free. If he/she could not follow the contours of your breast and still get clear margins, then they have to excise the breast in a way that enables them to get the whole tumor out, get clear margins, and minimize risks to nerves, etc. Things will settle down as healing takes place and you can contact a plastic surgeon if needed to get a better cosmetic outcome.
Hoping your results are benign.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate all the tips and kind words. I will hopefully have more info during my post op appointment on Thurs 4/5.

It was benign. They were able to remove the entire lesion. Thanks everyone!

woohooo glitz! So happy for you! Celebrate!!!!
I hope the scars fade soon.

Very good!! I’m going for consult w/surgeon on Monday. I’m a Birads5 for a spiculated density. I’m praying it will be benign. Take care.

Hi Minetta57, best wishes for Monday. Stay busy until then.
