Odds of Lump in Other Breast being Benign???

Hi everyone, I have two lesions in the left breast - invasive ductal carcinoma although they are not very big. I had an ultrasound, a needle biopsy and a sterotactic biopsy as well as an MRI. They have found a lesion on the right breast and they are sending me for a further ultrasound on Tuesday. Is the fact that they didn't jump immediately to biopsy mean they are just being extra cautious with the ultrasound? If they really though it was something, wouldn't they book me for a biopsy? My sister had bilateral breast cancer so I'm hoping they're just being extra careful.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience? Thanks,

Hi Sue,

So hard to tell by speculation here, but I think anything is possible. I had mild dysplasia in one breast--not c--and an ILC tumor in the other, so who knows? Keep us posted and know that even if it is bi-lateral, you'll knock it out x2 and get on with your life!

Sue, do you have ILC? I have heard that frequently is bilateral. When first diagnosed, the biopsy indicated I had ILC and my surgeon ordered an MRI of the other breast. Turns out I had IDC, with ILC features. No cancer was found in my other breast.

sue--not sure if this helps but I was told by my BS that MRIs have like a 30% false positive rate. "*Everything* lights up on one of those." They are almost too sensitive--hope it turns out it's nothing.
