Good morning.

I am terrified and in tears. There is no history of cancer in my family but I never had a pregnancy and now this.

Any advice appreciated it. My appointment is at 1:30 pm.

    Hi!

Many of us don't have cancer in our families and are nevertheless diagnosed with breast cancer. Don't worry about whether or not you've been pregnant. Most of the time, getting cancer is just dumb luck.

That said, don't assume you have cancer until you do. Many women have ultrasounds who don't end up with a cancer diagnosis. The recommendation for an ultrasound merely means that the radiologist would like another look at something that showed up on your mammogram.

Whatever happens today, be sure to ask for a copy of your report. You have the right to your medical records, and they can be helpful as a baseline for future mammograms.

    ((Hugs))

Thanks Elaine, they said that she needed something to compare it too and that might be dense tissue. I am a nerve wreck.

    From mammographysaveslives.org :

For every 1,000 women who have a screening mammogram:

    • 100 are recalled to get more mammography or ultrasound images
    • 20 are recommended for a needle biopsy
    • 5 are diagnosed with breast cancer out of 1000 women screened

    hi everyone

Just came back from work. Update.

They did a 2nd mammogram and an ultrasound in the left breast. They told me my breast are really dense and they could not see anything abnormal. Come back in a year.

Thanks for your kind replies. I was panicking!!!.
