About 5-6 months ago I noticed a lump in my breast that was painful when pressed. I assumed it was a cyst, but went to my gyno to have it checked...she referred me to a breast care specialist. He did a mammo, which came back clear. He also did an US on the area and said it was a ridge of fibrous breast tissue and he would recheck in 2 month. Fast forward to yesterday at the 2 month checkup. The lump hasn't gone away and my breast has actually changed in size and gotten slightly larger. He can't find ANYTHING on ultrasound and said that I should just relax...that it's just hormonal changes (I just turned 40) and that these problems would more than likely subside after menopause. I asked about the pain and he said breast pain is normal...often unexplainable, but normal. He said that an MRI is not necessary, but that he would order one if it would make me feel better. I don't want to go thru unnecessary medical procedures. Have any of you dealt with this fibrous tissue and had the pain and change in breast size? (there is no cyst)
