Chinese herbalist. How did you find one?

I’ve been looking for a Chinese Herbalist for quite a while now and have not managed to find one that either seems trustworthy or that I can afford. I’m in NYC and the prices seem crazy to me. I’ve found some herbalist that charge $30 a consult and sell you different herbs or others that charge $500 per consult and sell you their proprietary herbs ($150-200) which only last a month and then you have to go back for another $350 consult and buy more herbs. Wondering how the people who are using Chinese Herbs found their herbalist and if anyone knows of a good one in NYC?

The best maybe thru the word of mouth? I also study Chinese medicine as a hobby and firmly believe the practitioners brags and charge insane amount of money is not always worth it. Doc is supposed to help patient not milk the patient.

Another way is to look for a school near by that has Tradtiinal Chinese medicine program including Acupunture and Herbology. School normally has clinics, students are not the most experienced depending whether they were trained in Asian previously or just starting this. But you do meet the teachers who often has practices on the side. School clinic are often low cost, ask for senior class but different teacher each time so you can pick the teacher you like.

Also what specifically you are looking for? To help with side effect Or improve energy?

He seems to be known for Acupunture from my google search, call them to find out whether they do herbs.

Also asking a few teachers in my school to see whether they know anyone in NYC, will let u know once I hear back.
