I have had what I call a squishy lump in my right breast for months. It doesn't hurt figured it was a cyst. I have had burning sensation in opposite breast for a year. Went for my screen and they wouldn't do one said I needed to speak with Dr first. Did that and says I need a diagnostic mammogram done with a sonogram. It is kinda freak I g me out. Because in the past he has said I had cysts. I didn't tell him about the opposite breast burning didn't think it was relavant. Scared I got a reason to worry. Any thoughts.

They are just setting you up for proper diagnostics. If you have a complaint (the lump) then you don't want just the screening. You want the mammogram with more views (diagnostic)followed by an ultrasound so they can identify what the lump is. It doesn't mean anything bad.

Call them back and ask if your scheduled order just says right, or says bilateral. If it just says right, they will only do right. Now is the time to mention the opposite breast to your doctor in case he is willing to change the order to bilateral.
