Postpartum worries

When pregnant with my second child at 5 months my breasts grew very large and heavy, had pitted skin on inside/underneath both breasts and color changes. The left was much larger with more pitting, color changes and edema. I made a specific appt for my breasts with my Obgyn they hurt so bad! The Dr. chalked it up to hormonal changes, I was not satisfied and mentioned it to two other drs throughout my pregnancy that was in Obgyngroup who performed breast exams as well. Their response was the same. So now 4 weeks after birth I have the same edema, pitting, color and extreme itching. I went to lactation consultant who was actually concerned. She offered to call my ob on my behalf since I felt very dismissed over my concerns from the beginning. Any advice?

my advice is to be your own advocate. You're going to have to demand imaging. So glad the lactation nurse is on your side. You didn't mention your age. I was 37 at diagnosis. I requested orders for mammo, but it wasn't until I became a little feisty did he send the orders over to imaging for a mammo.

Keep pressing on. If you feel in your gut something is not right, then go through the line to find someone who will listen to you. It's your health that's in stake, not theirs. If anything, your peace of mind could be waived.

Best of luck! Hoping for b9 results, once you request those images.

Thank you for your input. I am 37 as well. I've tried to insist that my breasts were not normal but since I was pregnant and there were similarities on both sides they said it couldn't be. Since my lactation nurse contacted my dr. today they called me and I have an appt tomorrow morning. I will request imaging. Thank you again
