Looking for an IBC expert in or around NYC

Hi all. I really beat the odds. Not only was I diagnosed with a "rare" form of breast cancer but I am also 33 years old and as my doctor put it in his notes "have no risk."

Yesterday I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer following a mammogram, ultrasound, and a biopsy. I received the results over the phone and will meet with the doctor tomorrow. However, I would like to ultimately be treated by someone that specializes in IIBC.

I am reaching out to ask if anyone can recommend a IBC expert in NYC. I would prefer to be treated in a cancer center. Of course Slaon Kettering was my first thought but I am having a hard time figuring out if there is anyone there that specializes in IBC.

I am looking at the Dana-Farber Breast Cancer program. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thank you.

Kittycatlover84, there is an IBC specialty clinic at MD Anderson in Texas:

But it's a long way from New York. There are pretty much standardized treatments for all kinds of breast cancer, though, and you can get chemo, surgery, radiation treatment, and follow-up Sloan Kettering or any NCI certified cancer center.

It might be reassuring, though, to make the trip to Texas for a second opinion. The chair of medical breast oncology there, Dr. Tripathy, provided a consultation for my own inflammatory-type BC when he was at USC here in California. He's brilliant. But again, you don't have to move to Texas to receive state-of-the-art treatment.

    Blessings and a gentle hug...

I appreciate your rely. This was exactly the plan my doctor and I came up with. It turned out that my insurance will pay for me to be treated at MD Anderson so I will be flying there next week for a second opinion.
