hello all, I’m new here and just wanted to say hello and a little bit of was is going on and hoping for some insight. To start, I’m 31yr w/ breast implants. I recently found a lump on my right breast and went into panic mode as 5 women in my family have had breast cancer. I saw my GP on 2/26/18 and she confirmed the lump. On 2/28/18 I had a mammogram with ultrasound right after. The radiologist was very vague and just said I needed a biopsy which is scheduled for 2/12/18. I did request my radiology report and here is what it states:

Focused ultrasound of the right breast at 4oclock 3cm from the nipple middle depth demonstrates a 1.2 x 0.7 x 1.1cm oval shaped hypoechoic mass with circumscribed margins. There is no significant internal vascularity. The mass is oriented parallel the skin and demonstrates partial shadowing and possible ductal extension. Birads4 suspicious abnormality biopsy recommended.

Like I stated, the radiologist was very vague and I have no idea what I’m reading on this report and with the biopsy still over a week away, I was hoping someone could help me interpret it a little to hopefully ease my anxiety, any info is appreciated :)

    Hi Ella21,

So far I know the terms “oval shaped", “circumscribed" and “parallel the skin" point to a benign finding such as a fibroadenoma.

Hope everything turns out to be fine :)

Thank you Hanna2013! Those points are reassuring. Not sure how to feel about the shadowing and ductal extension. I feel half of the description is good and half is bad. Jut have to keep playing the waiting game
